Skabble = Shared browsing + Desktop chat client! The first impression just when you open the website is great. One gets a feeling that its multiple features packaged into one application, but in reality there are not many practical features just yet. If you’re going to launch a new chat client, you’re going to have to consider the fact that there are established chat tools that support integration, which will make growth a bit easier. Skabble doesn’t appear to have taken advantage of this just yet, and is essentially requiring its users to start from scratch, building up new buddy lists and finding new friends. In my experience I have seen that building up the buddy list for a “new” and “unknown” application is damn tough. Its so damn hard to get a bored, crazy, geeky buddy waiting to pounce upon any new application just released on net.

A primary focus of Skabble appears to be social browsing, as Skabble’s desktop client can track the websites you visit and enable real-time chat with others that are also on this site. You can also add your favorite sites to your Skabble desktop client and begin a chat conversation with friends around this particular website at any time.

Skabble has potential because this chat feature surrounding Web browsing behavior could be a useful bookmarking and recommendation tool if it were better integrated with the actual browser. Additional automated interaction with Web browsing would also help–it took a few minutes for me to figure out how to add sites to my Skabble client.

The social web browsing aspect of Scabble is similar to Browzmi which I might be reviewing later.
