@Sharoncharles: You are right! There are few tools available to repair or Fix damaged Zip files. I have tried Stellar Phoenix ZIP Recovery Software and repaired my very important Zip file successfully. I would suggest first to try the free version to see the preview of the file,

Hello friends.
A software tool named as SysInfoTools ZIP Recovery can help us to recover or repair the lost or damaged ZIP files.
I used it personally and very much satisfied with the results. You should also check it for better and instant results.

First, i should say Im not a IT guy and I really don't understand these IT terminologies that you gentlemen are discussion about. What i simply wanna share is that I've also encountered the same problem whilst extracting zip-files in Windows Vista. Eventually I manged to find the solution from Windows support and they asked me to follow these simple steps & IT REALLY WORKED!

1. Find a zip file.
2. Right click the file and choose "Open With". If a sub-menu appears, please click "Choose Default Program…"
3. Click "Browse…" button. Browse to "C:\Windows" folder.
4. Find the file "explorer.exe" (it sometimes will show as "explorer") and click "Open".
5. Make "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" selected and click "OK".

I hope this helps, cheers! =)

Thanks for the digg :)
I need to let you know that this piece of software is not 100% accurate. From my personal experience I have been able to recover/correct just 50% of the files I have tried this upon.
