After moving this blog to a new host, I installed some new WordPress plugins which required me to know the Feedburner Id of my RSS feed. But my RSS URL (http://feeds.feedburner.com/TechnicallyPersonal) doesn’t contain any ID as such.

Then I got to know that the Id is a numeric sequence such as 2263754. To find your Feedburner Id:

  • Login to your Feedburner account
  • Click on My Feeds
  • Click on the name of the appropriate feed (if you have more than one)
  • Click on Publicize.
  • Scroll down to Email Subscriptions in the left navigation.
  • Select the Feedburner radio button and then click on Activate.

Activation will generate an HTML email subscription link for you to place on your blog and which contains your Feedburner ID, such as:

http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverifySubmit?feedId=2263754&loc=en_US which renders as Subscribe to Technically Personal by Email.

Note that the feed ID in this particular case is 2263754.

    Dear Raju,
    Can you pl. confirm whether the feedburner ID has gone alphanumeric? I have been using a theme which allows me to link my feedburner numeric ID only.

  • http://techpp.com Raju

    @dominate,
    It is still the same. It is still numeric only.

    Dear Raju,
    Thanks for the update but I doubt. Since the google takeover the ID has become alphanumeric. Pl. have a look at this: http://www.netprofitstoday.com/blog/how-to-find-your-feedburner-id/

      @dominate,
      I understand where the confusion is coming from. I referred to my email subscription form settings and it is STILL numeric as mentioned in the post (even after moving to Google). just to cross check i went to my feedburner settings and saw that it has been changed to “http://feedburner.google.com/fb/a/mailverify?uri=TechnicallyPersonal”
      Interestingly the OLD settings which i am using still works, but you are right, it has been replaced by URI now.

    Thanks for the info.

    I’ve just set this up and Google now only uses uri and not ID (Feed Name instead of Feed ID – numeric).

    Also, after spending a few hours trying to figure out why I always got the “The feed does not have subscriptions by email enabled”, I found that I needed to wait a day or two after creating my Feedburner account before it ‘takes effect’
