Google Labs has come out with yet another new feature in GMail called Canned Responses. As reported in the Official Google Blog, you can now save a reply as a canned response, and can choose this response as a reply to the future e-mails you will be getting.
So, here is how to create Canned Responses,
- Click on Settings on upper right hand corner of your account page.
- Select Labs tab and scroll down to Canned Responses and select Enable.
- The next time you reply to a message, look for Canned response option in blue in your email
- To map the Canned Response you just created to the auto reply feature, go to Gmail settings and select Filters and then select Create New Filter.
- You will now see an option to “Send a Canned response”. Here is where you can select an individual reply to a specific sender.
Note that you can also create filters to reply based on keywords instead of senders name.

I had no idea. There are so many options in the Labs menu! Crazy.

My pleasure buddy
This would be great, but unfortunately this doesn’t work for the emails generated from a form on my website. When gmail tries to send the response back it auto fills in a crazy email address from my domain instead of using the from email address or the reply-to email address.
Hi,
I got your mail & would get back to you soon.

OK, can you explain to us how to have the signature added to all canned responses? This doesn’t seem to work when I try it (canned responses work, but the automatic signature is not attached).
If you save the signature into the canned response, that’s less than ideal – it doesn’t update if you change the signature. Furthermore, the images inserted that way seem to be broken.
