The whole point of not using email client software for me is that I don't get viruses because I don't download email to my computer. (I also don't use IM or click sketchy links on creepy websites.) :) I have never had a virus in 15 years on countless computers.

I think this backup solution would people at greater risk for viruses.

Here is my solution. I have several email accounts for various purposes. I simply have all the email sent to 2 or 3 of them on different services and I'm automatically backed up -- and safe.

Windows Live mail is one service that allows incoming pop/imap service for free.

[...] Easiest Way to Backup GMail Data Posted on Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 in Featured Downloads - Comments: (3) I am damn sure that GMail freaks (like me) will adore this post! I have always tried different ways to backup the data in my GMail account, since it is my primary email account. I had tried configuring Microsoft outlook and Outlook Express for GMail, so that I can download those important mails to my PC. But they turned out to be pretty slow. But now, Jan Švec & Filip Jurčíček have developed a small utility called Gmail-Backup which can be used to backup and archive GMail account in a single click. It basically uses the IMAP feature in Gmail to save and restore the complete archives. [...]
