  • If you feel like smashing your PC which cannot play your favorite game,

Boostspeed

The version I reviewed is 4.2.8.178 and following are the minimum requirements to run the software
  • Vista/XP/2000/2003 (32-bit and 64-bit supported)
  • 32 Mb of RAM
  • 50 Mb of available disk space

Installation is straight-forward

The installable is less than 5MB which is pretty good for a feature packed optimization suite. The installation process was very simple and fast as well.

Flexible Configuration

The BoostSpeed configuration options are accessible from the main screen. Start the program and click the Settings link in the top right of the interface. In the popup menu select Program Settings. BoostSpeed uses a simple multi-tabbed dialog box for its configuration. Take a special note of Rescue Center tab. It shows a...
windows 7 fixta There is a lot of hoopla going on in the blogosphere about Windows 7. Discussion at my friend's (Stratos) blog made me think about this. Is downloading & installing Windows7 worth all the pain? Microsoft made an announcement that they will be giving out 2.5 million copies of Windows 7 beta for free on January 9th 2009. As predicted by many, Microsoft servers failed to scale up to the demand and went down. Many users like Vikas faced an agony of waiting for download to complete. To be a bit fair with Microsoft, they have a standard disclaimer put up -
Windows 7 beta is meant only for advanced computer users who are willing and able to look for bugs and help provide feedback on any issues that arise. Microsoft recommends you use it only on a secondary computer dedicated to testing the software. There is also no direct technical support available, and you may encounter some compatibility issues with older hardware and software.

Well, Is it worth the pain then?

I will not force my views here. I will just share some articles across the blogosphere which might help you to...

Search Cloudlet logo

Search Cloudlet is a light-weight, simple to use Firefox extension, which energizes Google and Yahoo searches by adding a tag-cloud to them, there-by helping you to refine your search resulting in more accurate results.

You can adjust the number of keyword tags you want to see below the search box and it automatically re-searches as you click and add them. Search Cloudlet works by looking at the words, sources, locations and other data in the search results to create a weighted tag cloud — the bigger the term the more frequently it pops up in the results.

Perhaps the most surprising thing about Search Cloudlet is that didn't seem to add any overhead to the page load time. In my testing both Google and Yahoo loaded just as fast with Search Cloudlet installed as without. In addition to standard Google and Yahoo searches the extension works on Google News both for keywords and locations. It also works for Google Blog search in a really neat way by adding tags for each author that you can click on to filter which posts come...

Microsoft has announced that it offer 2.5 million downloadable copies of Windows 7 beta for free! But as always there are couple of catches tagged with the "FREE" keyword :|

Catch 1

The beta will expire on August 1st 2009. Wow! So generous of you Mr. Blatter. Take a bow!

Catch 2

The Beta version being released is the upgrade version, so it can only be installed on top of Vista. The Windows 7 Beta will be available in English, German, Japanese, Arabic, and Hindi, and each language will be available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions. In case you don't mind the 2 catches above and you do not know what Torrents and peer-to-peer systems are, then take a note that  download is available from January 9th HERE. Watch out before hitting the link though: if you’ve not got the latest version of Silverlight installed, it can (and it will) cause browsers to...
