This is a quick announcement that Google PR update is going on currently and the good news is that TechPP is now PR3!! Technically this is the first PR update for the year 2009. The previous PR update happened on 31st December 2008. I was expecting this update to begin on 31st March 2009, but anyway it has come 2 days later.
When I started out, PR metric was a big deal. Over the course of time it has become just another metric as a webmaster. Homepage is PR3, some internal pages have PR4, PR2 & PR1. I do not think PR will affect either the SERP or the traffic directly in a big way, but still it has become a parameter to gauge the authority of a website.
Has the PR of your website(s) changed? Do let me know.

@Harshad,
Thanks! PR update is still going on. Wait for a day to see if it updates your PR. Anyway, as I mentioned in the post it doesn’t matter much
@Venkat,
Even the PR plugin for Firefox shows it as PR2, not sure why this inconsistency.

Hey There!
I just did a G search to find out if anyone else seen a shift or if it was just a glitch in my toolbar. I made the jump from PR0 to PR3 – yay.
You are right though, PR means a lot less now than it did a few years ago. PR is a made up number from google. Why care what number they choose – as long as you show up for relevant searches and you have the traffic you need

Congratulations Raju! This PR isn’t so important but it’s great to see when it’s rising!
My blog is pretty new, it was started on January 2nd and now for 3 months my PR went from PR-0 to as high as PR-3! And I’m very glad about that.
I hope both our blogs continue to grow in PR and visitors. Wish all of you much traffic for your blogs!
Enjoy!

I operate a number of websites and most of my sites had a positive increases in PR following this review. I have been working hard on improving the links to my site and definitely pleased with the improvement.

I’ve been all over the place with PR over the years. I was up to 4 at one point, but am now down to 2. I even hit 0 for a while. I’ve done a few optimizations to improve PR, but stopped last year when even positive PR changes didn’t seem to impact traffic or SERP.

Are PR update the only time that Google also updates SERPS? Or will Google update SERPS based on the ‘actual’ PR even though that new PR may not have been released yet?
