Automatically Turn Off Your Monitor When you Lock the PC

Downloads, Tiny Tip

Are you concerned about the environment? Do you follow Energy saving techniques like switching off the monitor whenever you go away for a small break? Then check out MonitorES.

MonitorES or Monitor Energy Saver is a small utility which automatically turns off your monitor display when you lock down your desktop or laptop. Not just that, MonitorES pauses all the running media players and sets the status message of your IM messenger to “Away” whenever you lock your PC!! Isn’t that uber-cool for a small freeware?

There is no installation required. Just run the executable and select the Power saving option. Or else you can choose to turn on the Screensaver (which I do not think is much useful anyway).

To enable MonitorES to pause your media player or set your messenger status to “Away”, you need to click the “Options” button and check the Media Status and Messenger Status.

So go ahead and download MonitorES. Do your bit to conserve energy!

@Ajay , I think , you have not activated your screensaver( seems u have tried screensaver on , instead of monitor off w)

You must activate any screensaver to select that option.

If not , please explain the scenario and file a issue on code page.

    Thanks,
    Umakanthan

@Umakanthan, I had selected only the monitor off option. When I left for the day, I left my laptop locked for long hours, maybe that was the reason for the unexpected behavior.

    Thanks,
    Ajay
