How many of you knew about Bing.com cashback? Bing Cashback or Bing Shopping (formerly Live Search Products and Windows Live Product Search) is a products search service and part of Microsoft’s Bing search engine. It is customized for finding products available for sale on the web. The results provide information such as product pictures, pricing, and description. These products can be indexed by crawling the web and extracting rich meta-data from web pages.
The Bing Cashback program was launched on May 22, 2008 (firstly as Live Search Cashback) that allows users to search for products from multiple vendors and find their prices and offering money back for purchases made through the site. Its a great tool to save money while buying online!
Google, with their Checkout service, has been challenging other vendors like Paypal off-late with innovative and attractive features and looking to dominate the online shopping market. And now, Microsoft, in their bid to challenge Google and in an attempt to increase their search engine share has started to entice people to use the Microsoft Bing search engine through Bing.com Cashback. Basically what this cashback program does is if you access any of the many online stores that participate in this program via a link from Bing.com, you will get an X% amount of cash back from your total purchase price.
How to save money via Bing.com Cashback?
Method 1 – via Bing.com Cashback Store
Visit the Bing.com Cashback Store and choose the product you want to buy. Enter your eMail address and you will be redirected to the product’s website to complete the purchase. After purchase, you will receive an email with the details of the cashback which you can claim after 60 days!
Method 2 – via Bing.com Search page
Visit Bing search site and search for the product you want to buy. For example, if you search for “iPhone case” you will see results with Bing.com cashback option as shown below
Click on the link and it will take you to the Bing.com Cashback store and you have to follow the process mentioned in method 1. The great thing about this second method is that the cashback received by actually searching on Bing.com is usually higher than if you went to Bing.com’s Cashback page!

And coming to the actual purpose of this post, starting August 10, 2009 Microsoft is increasing the cashback % on many stores for a limited time in Microsoft’s “back to school” promo! Some stores are seeing cashback increase by almost 2x! According to dottech, the possible cashback increase will be:
Drugstore.com – 25% (Note: prescription drugs are not eligible for cashback)
Ebags – 30%
HP – 15%
Overstock – 20%
Sears – 15%
Circuit City – 12.5%
Shoebuy – 20%
Tiger Direct – 12.5%
Eastbay.com – 50%
This list is not inclusive at all and many other stores cashback will also double and/or increase. So if you are looking to make an online purchase now is a great time to do it!
