This has to be one of the craziest Google Doodles ever! Google is celebrating the invention of the bar code with a new doodle! As per Wiki, the patent for barcode was issued on 7 October 1952.

Doodles are Google’s unique way to show its respect for great people, inventions and events. They have been doing this for a long time and even have dedicated employees to design these awesome doodles. Being the most visited website in the world, Google has the responsibility and opportunity to educate users about the beautiful history across the world, and what better way than replacing it’s own logo on the homepage to pass on the message?

As for this particular doodle, the barcode used is Code 128 encoded. This is a standard way of encoding character strings, such as A-Z, a-z, 0-9 and so on.

This Barcode doodle has to be the most minimalistic doodle ever! Hats off!
