How to Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 with blackRa1n RC3?
Step 1: Download and install the latest version of iTunes if you haven’t already. (download link ).
Step 2: You will now need to first update/restore to the original iPhone OS firmware 3.1.2 on your iPhone by using the latest version of iTunes.

Step 3: Download blackra1n RC3 for Windows or Mac (download link at the end of the post).
Step 4: Start blackra1n app. If you are running it on Windows 7 or Vista, run the app with “Windows XP Compatibility” mode by enabling it from the “Properties” tab to avoid any errors during the jailbreak process.
Step 5: Click on “make it ra1n”
Your iPhone will be placed in recovery mode
Step 6: Let the app do its thing and wait for the phone to automatically reboot.

I got it restored in an apple store today and have run black ran a few times. it runs fine but the phone does not restart itself. it stays on a blank screen for around 15 minutes then turns off. when i do try turning it on there is no blackrain app. whats can do?

I have an iPhone 3G. I connected my phone to iTunes and it updated my iPhone to 3.1.3 without my consent! So I downgraded it to 3.1.2 using blackra1n. But the baseband cannot be downgraded, so I got 05.12.01.
My phone shows “No Service”. This hasn’t happened before the jailbreak (this SIM card is the one which goes for this phone and don’t need to unlock). But I am unable to phone or text.

Hi All. Has anyone found a workaround for the phone going into DFU mode on resetting or power off/on. Ra1ned fine, but a bit annoying if battery dies whilst away from compter, as having to run Blackra1n everytime I Reboot.

After a while it restarts and again same process and message comes, “jailbreak successfully done” and then “done, wait for reboot” and same geoface appears but after a couple of minutes apple logo appears and back to restore mode (iTunes USB cable) then again geohot face appears and then again few minutes later apple logo appears and back to restore mode (iTunes USB cable). And so on … every time
I tried like 15 times but no result, What should I do? Any suggestions?

What if you jailbreak it and you acsidently delete the blackra1n app before you do the cydia thing?:( thats what i did..:0

BEFORE U DO THIS UN CHECK THE WINDOWS XP CAPATIBILITY OPTION..AND IT WILL WORK LOLLL. SO SIMPLEEEEEEEEE
1) connect your iphone and let sync,
2) eject but DO NOT unplug,
3) start blackra1n,
4) DO NOT TOUCH anything, let the phone be,
5) iphone will reboot and is jailbroken,
6) click on blackra1n icone on iphone
When i tried to open the setup theres a error message called “this applicaton has failed to start because ASL.dll was not found Re-Installing the application may fix this problem.
