The popular iPhone hacker Geohot has finally released the much awaited blackra1n RC3 with blacksn0w which unlocks both iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS running on iPhone 3.1.2 firmware with 05.11.07 baseband.
This latest version of blackra1n includes unlock and jailbreak for 3.1.2 firmware on 05.11.07 baseband, option for enabling native Internet Tethering on the iPhone, hacktivation support, 15 seconds speed improvement and support for OS X Tiger & PPC (PowerPC) Macs.
Here is what’s important to note:
* BlackSn0w unlocks baseband 05.11.07
* BlackSn0w enables internet tethering
* BlackSn0w is for iPhone 3G and 3GS users only
Those of you with iPhone 2G should follow the guide posted here for unlocking and jailbreaking 3.1.2 firmware. Here is a complete step by step guide on how to unlock iPhone 3G and 3GS running 3.1.2 firmware on 05.11.07 baseband with blacksn0w.
NOTE: Those of you who have already installed blackra1n RC1 or RC2 should just run the the app and touch on “ra1n”, which has been added now instead of “Icy”. This will upgrade blackra1n to RC3. Now simply follow the instruction written in Step 5 below to unlock your iPhone.

How to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 with blackSn0w?
* As mentioned above, if you previously jailbroke your iPhone using BlackRa1n and you kept the blackra1n.app on it, then run BlackRa1n. The Icy icon should be replaced by the “ra1n” option. Select “ra1n” to upgrade BlackRa1n to RC3. After upgrading, run BlackRa1n and you should see the “sn0w” option. Just select “sn0w” and it will unlock your iPhone.
* If you were waiting to update to 3.1.2 or if your iPhone was stuck locked, then download BlackSn0w, run it, reboot, and choose the “sn0w” option from the BlackRa1n.app.
* If your iPhone was previously jailbroken using PwnageTool or if you deleted the BlackRa1n.app from your iPhone, BlackSn0w will be added to Cydia later during the day.
Step 1: Download the latest version of iTunes if you haven’t already. (Download link)
Step 2: Update/restore to the original (stock) iPhone firmware 3.1.2 on your iPhone by using the latest version of iTunes.
Download iPhone OS 3.1.2 for iPhone 2G
Download iPhone OS 3.1.2 for iPhone 3G
Download iPhone OS 3.1.2 for iPhone 3GS
Step 3: You will now have to jailbreak your iPhone running on iPhone 3.1.2 firmware with blackra1n RC3. Follow the complete step by step guide posted before in order to jailbreak your iPhone 3G/3GS with blackra1n RC3.
Step 4: Once you are done with the jailbreak, start the blackra1n app and you should now see “sn0w” option as can be seen from the screenshot below:
Step 5: Now simply touch on “sn0w” to install blacksn0w on your iPhone. This will automatically unlock your iPhone 3G/3GS running 3.1.2 firmware on 05.11.07 baseband.
blacksn0w will soon be available on Cydia too. If you have upgraded to 3.1.2 firmware with PwnageTool 3.1.4, then you will soon be able to unlock your iPhone with 05.11.07 baseband with ease. Stay tuned for more updates on this!

3:After Installing Blackra1n, You download cydia ,unpacking but can’t see icon after respringing.

1:-Creat a New administrator Account In windows Xp, Vista or Seven But Dont Log in Yet
2:-Clean install iphone firmware 3.1.2(You can back Up befor )
3:-Put your iPhone in dfu mode so you can update it with itunes.
4:-Iphone 2G download blackra1n and skip 8
5:After Update put your Iphone in Airplane Mode.
6:-download and save Blackra1n in your root drive (C
7:Log In the new Admin account in windows.
8:Run Blackra1n from C:
9:Download Cydia And Rock at the first time (automatic respringing)
10:Use Cydia to Update Rock then you can start using rock if you like .
black snow is not showing up when I open the app blackra1n up just rock and cydia any ideas why this is?

i downloaded blackrain like a few days ago, but anyways. i have a iphone 3gs and it shut down on me, i believe it crashed on me. and know it dosen’t want to turn on anymore? or sync with my Mac..what should i do? if i was to take it to the apple store with it been hacked, what would the apple store say????

Just wanted to chime in…. running a 3g previously jailbroken and unlocked on t-mobile(2.2). I froze it and it sat for a while and I decided now was the time to update the phone. I decided that blackra1n was the way to go. It went so smoothly till i couldn’t get the “no sim” error to go away. After lots of hair pulling I figured out that I had to leave in my at&t card in the phone until the very end of my jailbreaking and unlocking then switch sim cards after the final reboot, and now its all good. Thanks to everyone who posted on every site i came to. Without you guys I have no idea where I would be. Goodluck to the rest and most of all thanks to Blackra1n and everyone that had anything to do with it.

I have a iPhone 3Gs (3.1.2 with 5.11.07) from ORANGE and after user blackrain the iphone shows the “Connect to iTunes” screen. The only option I have is to reset the iPhone to factory settings…. 
After jailbreaking my iPhone 3g 3.1.2 and unlocking, it will just randomly crash and be stuck on apple logo constantly rebooting….any suggestions please??!!!

iphone 3g 3.1.2 05.11.07 sim T-mobile, I followed the Blackra1n Rc3 instruction step by step couple of times, it jailbeaks/unlock fine, but no service, did every other possible thing to get my phone to work, but no luck.I am T-Mobile user and all it says No service, If I click Carrier under setting, it says searching and then it brings back T-Mobil and AT&T, so if I select either of one it says “Your selected cellular network is no longer available, you can choose a different network in settings” I think I am not the only one who’s having this issue, I heard lot of people having this issue after unlocking with Blackra1n Rc3, can some please help, really appreciate it.

i did this on two locked 3g 5.11.07, 3.1.2 iphones in order to use a tmoble sim and it worked perfectly for one but not the other. the signal keeps going in and out … its says tmobile then… searching ..then no service and that keeps happning over and over. can any help?? thanks shells
I have the same NO SERVICE problem after several times trying to unlock the phone…
I restored the original 3.1.2 with itunes, then inserted a at&t sim card and worked, removed the sim, then jailbreak it with blackra1n, after reboot inserted again the at&t sim and still worked, removed the card again, then I unlocked using sn0w and no service with any sim I inserted, tmobile and at&t…wifi works fine, etc.

i have used 2g iphone on orange ok for over 2 years on all firmware from 2.0 up to 3.1.2, I have just got Iphone 3gs ( 10 jan 2010 ) and had jailbroken on that day. i have now resored it back in itunes because you cannot turn it off and on agian with out jailbreaking it agian,
all the people with no wifi and no signal go in setting and hit resore network settings, It has always worked for me
if you can get on cydia look for fix push this will sort out evey thing else
ok i recently got a new iphone 3GS 3.1.2 05.11.07.
i went and got it unlocked at a store and everythign is working fine.
except for the problem of i cant turn my phone off without the conenct to itnues symbol coming up. i just have a few questions if someone could help me please because im paying at least 3 times a week for this guy to take that connect to itunes sign off.
i can really care less about the jail breaking. i just really need to understand how i can reboot it back myself.

I did all the steps, after “make it rain” the iphone automatically reboot. now i have “blackra1n” in the list of applications. i ran “blackra1n” app and selected to install “Cydia” and sn0w packages. After the package install i see pop-up screen saying iphone has been unlocked. I tried different AT&T 3G sim, i see on iphone a different SIM is detected, but only allow to make emergency call, but i can receive incoming call. Has anyone run into the same issue.
