Hot news coming in from Reuters that Google Phone a.k.a Nexus one will be released on January 5th 2010, that’s less than 3 weeks from now! They’ve been advised that it will be at a “reduced price to consumers who agree to a service contract from Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile USA“.

Nexus One Pricing

Here’s the price: $199 unlocked in stores. $100 rebate online if you have an active and old Google account. That $100 rebate is either to buy it $99 online from Google’s online phone store, for using on Android Marketplace or for using on any Google Checkout stores. Can also be used for T-Mobile or AT&T pre-paid Data SIM card service at $29 per month, no contracts required.

Google will push full VOIP usage on these, meaning no voice/sms plans needed at any carrier. Voice calls will go through Google Voice on Data SIM cards and will provide unlimited free voice calling. And SMS is replaced by unlimited free Gtalk.

Finally, Google will provide easy roaming data services in other countries. For example, if you go to Europe, you can roam on HSDPA data networks for the same price of 20€ per month, and if you only stay in Europe for a few days you won’t need to pay for the whole month. You may not even need to change the SIM card.

Note: Reuters quote unofficial sources for this news. So effectively this is still a rumor, which may or may not turn out to be true. Hope for the best!

    Available internationally? India?!

  2. Raju Says:

Probably yes, they have not mentioned specifically, all they have said is, “any operator selling nexus one must go through Google”

  3. Vaibhav - Programming Kid Says:

If only it costs around Rs.15000 will I think it has a potential to succeed in the Indian market. As Android is a new platform and does not find many takers except for enthusiast geeks.

Just look at what happened to HTC Magic!

  4. linusr Says:

I doubt if it’s for India. may be once 3G is launched and Google makes an agreement with Indian operator

it’s targeted for data only users

  5. Michael Aulia @CravingTech Says:

$199 unlocked in U.S so it must be around $900 in Australia or some other rip-off price :(

This Nexus 1 was activated today on Tmo USA, it was a very beautiful phone, fully functionalable, not a test one, screen is amazing.

  7. Rowena Says:

Would love to see it available in Malta (EU) but the price would probably be prohibitive!

  8. Raju Says:

It would probably take more time to get released outside US, and yeah price is still a question mark!

  9. Q Says:

ill pay 300 today if anyone can get there hands on one for me

  10. Klas Says:

“you can roam on HSDPA data networks for the same price of 20€ per month” OMFG that’s more than double what I pay now. I think i’ll stay with my current provider.

  11. Caleb Godwin Says:

I’ve heard from more sites that $199 is only if you buy a T-Mobile contract for $80 a month. The unlocked, nonsubscribed price is $530.

    Is this true?
