I followed the steps you mentioned in your e-mail.
And I keep on getting that error.
I have not still downloaded ESET NOD32, since I have no user name and password.
Should I install ESET NOD32 first?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I guess there is something wrong in the procedure followed. The key is valid for Nod32 Antivirus and not for smart security. Cross check which one you are trying to activate. Following the steps mentioned in email should help you activate the license
