domain-hijacking

No! This is not an article to help or encourage anyone trying to hijack a domain. Rather, this is like an eye-opener and a wake-up call for all those ignorant web-masters to secure their website domains.
From Wiki: Domain hijacking or domain theft is the process by which registration of a currently registered domain name is transferred without the permission of its original registrant, generally by exploiting a vulnerability in the domain name registration system.

Any website consists of 2 parts - a Domain Name System (or DNS) and a web-hosting server (where files reside). What this means is, in reality domain name and web server are 2 completely different entities and are integrated together before the website goes live. When someone registers a domain name (say example.com) with a domain name registrar (like GoDaddy or Namecheap), he gets to use a control panel provided by the registrar. Using this control panel, he would have to point his domain to his web servers which might be hosted elsewhere. Now whenever an Internet user types “example.com”, the domain name “example.com” is resolved to the target web server...
The biggest news on the web yesterday was of Twitter getting hacked or rather hijacked as we got to know later. Some people didn't get the difference between hacking and hijacking, or rather it didn't sound too different anyway since we got to see an Iranian flag instead of Twitter homepage.

Difference between Hacking and Hijacking

To keep it simple and short, Hacking is a process of illegally breaking into someone's website's server and getting hold of sensitive information related to that website. An intruder/hacker hacking into a site will be able to control the website's content, management and security. On the other hand, Hijacking usually involves compromising the registrar responsible for the DNS records of the victim company, the attackers then make unauthorised changes to the DNS records, thereby redirecting all the traffic to their own website. This has the net effect of making it look like, as in yesterday's example, servers belonging to Twitter were compromised when in reality that was not the case.

So, we can say hijacking is a minor version of hacking, as the data within the servers are still intact and not compromised....

"USA think they controlling and managing internet by their access, but they don't. We control and manage internetby our power. So do not try to stimulation Iranian people to ..... Now which country in Embargo list? Iran? USA?"
There is a history between Iran and Twitter. It was well noted and covered in the media that Twitter was used as a tool during the Iranian election protests. The US government actually intervened to assure that Twitter was available to the protestors in Tehran and around the country. This attack may be an act of reprisal from groups who were not happy with the role that Twitter played during the protests. This is not the first time Twitter is facing security issues. Few months back some hacker had broken down into their Twitter admin account and even hacked their email...

VLC Player, the popular open source video player from VideoLAN won't be available for Mac as the development stands suspended according to VideoLAN spokesperson. This was the announcement made earlier today - "VideoLAN is sad to announce that all work on the Mac OS X version of VLC may come to a halt." vlc-for-mac VLC player has been one of the most popular media playing solution, mainly responsible to bridge the gap between the official playback solutions of Apple and Microsoft and this news comes as a shocker. The VLC Player is being developed entirely by volunteers and VideoLAN acknowledges that they lack the man-power to carry out further development of Mac version. The most interesting part of the press release is this -
Finally, we have a few issues, since Apple doesn't want us on the Mac platform and is blocking us a lot, and refuses to explain why.
This is ridiculous. Why Apple doesn't want VLC on Mac? They don't like anyone doing better job than Apple? Anyway, all we can do is hope for the development to come back on track with some funding (from...
