Google’s Personalized Search – New Challenges For SEO

This is a guest post by Mohsin Khawaja. Google has recently announced "Personalized Search For Everyone" even when a particular user is not signed in.

When you search using Google, we will be able to better provide you with the most relevant results possible.

This is the statement mentioned in a post on Google's Blog. Google will attempt to show you the results based on your previous interest history and will present you results from your favored sites. Currently this feature has following characteristics:

It is based upon 180 days of search activity linked to an anonymous cookie in the browser.
It's completely separate from Google Account and Web History (which are only available to signed-in users)
A "View customizations" link will appear on the top right of the search results page, to let user see what customization Google has to offer.

Download Google Chrome for Mac/Linux Beta

This was long pending. Google has made the beta release of Chrome for Mac available for download now. The download is available directly from Google and is 17.6MB. It requires an Intel processor and Mac OS X 10.5 or later, but don't expect complete functionality as the release is still beta-based. Being beta, you won't be able to use apps like GMail, but you will be able to take advantage of the speed and stability of the browser. Quoting Brian on Chrome blog
