Yes! It’s official! The Google Nexus One event called today confirmed the launch of Google Nexus One. Not that it was a surprise, with everything including the Nexus one specs, price and release date were leaked before hand.

But the good news is, you can go ahead and buy your Google phone (Nexus One) right now from the Google Phone store! You can buy the unlocked Nexus one for $539 and with T-mobile contract it would cost $179. The shipping of Nexus one will start today! Google also announced that the Nexus One phones will be coming to Verizon and Vodafone soon and this first of a “series of devices”.

Currently consumers in the US, UK, Singapore and Hong Kong can buy the Nexus One without service or purchase the phone with service from one of Google’s operator partners.

The Nexus One features a slightly larger screen than iPhone and a 5-megapixel camera. It is the first device to run on Android 2.1, the latest version of the Mountain View, Calif-based company’s mobile operating system.

    Unlocked means Free to choose the carrier of your choice. Locked phones come with a multi-year contract where you are forced to stay with the carrier for that much time
