windows-7-sp1

There’re reports floating around the net about Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and according to rumors, a preliminary version of SP1 will be in June 2010 and will be accessible only to testers, whereas the final version is expected by September 2010. I personally know of many people who have not upgraded to Windows 7 and waiting for SP1 to come out before upgrading to the new operating system. So, what’s likely to be in SP1? According to ZDNet, top of the list will be all the patches and bug fixes that have been delivered to customers already. If you’re keeping up with patches than you already have these. On top of these patches and bug fixes will be tweaks and fixes based on feedback and telemetry received by Microsoft. "Don’t expect anything ground-breaking here, it’ll mostly be under the hood tweaks." SP1 will also bring with it support for new technologies. USB 3.0 is likely to be at the top of what is, admittedly, a short list. Likewise, enhancements to the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi stacks will be slipstreamed in, allowing Windows 7 to retain its mantle as the most easily configured version ever. Even...
gmail-security There is certain amount of laxity when it comes to completeness or readiness of a product or a service. I am talking about Google, the big daddy of Internet. Be it Feedburner or Google wave or even Orkut, Google seems to be lethargic in fixing the bugs. Same with Gmail as well. All these are high quality products, mind you - leaders in their area of use, but still far from being perfect. Especially Gmail, possibly the most popular free email solution on the web currently, has had lots of complaints with respect to security. Let us get it straight, no product is fool-proof, no email solution is hack-proof, but I simply fail to understand why it took so much time for Google to enable https by default to all Gmail users? It's been more than 20 months since we wrote a post tipping our readers to Always Use HTTPS to make Gmail more secure. A month later Mike Perry demoed a utility called Gmail Hacking tool which showed how easy it is to break Gmail's security.

Everyday there are so many new iPhone apps being added into the app-store and I normally don't like to talk about them as such. Last time we discussed about iPhone apps, we saw 15 cool Augmented Reality apps for iPhone. Today, I will introduce to another cool application which converts your iPhone into a security (or a spy) cam for real! iPhone 3GS comes with 3.2 megapixel camera, so Crowded App has come out with an interesting (yet controversial) idea of using the iPhone 3GS camera as a security device.

With this app, you can set your iPhone to take pictures at a pre-defined set of interval in minutes, or just about every time the mic on the iPhone detects any sound. You can also set the app to run the two modes in question simultaneously to take pictures every minute and/or whenever it picks up some sound, all these for just 99 cents!! To make the application power saving, and in order not to drain the iPhone’s battery, a feature has been implemented which allows the iPhone to sleep after a certain period of time and remain spying. Features of Security Cam app for...

Update: Watch American Idol 10 Online Here comes the mother of all reality shows, possibly the best amongst all and definitely one of my favorites - American Idol Season 9!! For those who don't know, American Idol is a reality competition to find new solo musical talent, created by Simon Fuller for FOX network in 2002, and has since become one of the most popular shows on American television. It is currently the #1 TV show in the Nielsen Ratings and is one of only three that have been #1 for five consecutive seasons. The series employs a panel of judges who critique the contestants' performances: Grammy award-winning record producer and music manager Randy Jackson and award-winning music executive and music manager Simon Cowell have been judges for the entire series. Grammy award-winning pop singer and Emmy award-winning choreographer Paula Abdul was a judge for the show's first eight seasons. For Season 9 of American Idol, Ellen DeGeneres was confirmed to be Abdul's replacement. The buzz is this will be Simon Cowell's last season as the judge for AI 9 and he will move on to "The...
Device driver installation and maintenance has always been an headache for many Windows users all the while, be it in Windows 95 or Windows Vista. Especially while migrating from Vista or XP to Windows 7, one might have come across various problems pertaining to device identification and driver maintenance. It has been a common complaint that Windows fails to identify the device installed or connected to the computer, and Windows cannot or unable to find proper or correct driver for the device. In Device Manager, the device will be listed as unknown device with yellow question mark. Check the image below for instance.

Ways to Identify and Find drivers for unknown devices

This is possibly the toughest way to identify the device. First, we need to find out the device instance ID which is made up of Vendor ID and...
