The Buzz about Google Buzz is still on and doesn't seem to die down anytime soon. My personal opinion is neutral when it comes to Google Buzz, so I have managed to use it as much as I can over the last 2 days. While browsing, I found that some people have "Verified name" badge next to their names on their Google Profiles. This is much similar to the "Verified account" badge on Twitter. Moreover, having a Google verified profile enables your profile name to appear in Google web results! Now, that's a real cool bonus, isn't it? Luckily, verifying a Google Profile is not too tough really. The only thing is, currently, this works only in US right now. Below is an example screenshot from the profile of Google's executive - David Glazer.

The process involves registering self on Knol, one of Google’s side projects. It’s easy, free, and important to be able to give people the peace of mind that it’s really you, especially if you run an online business. This process is nothing new and exists for over an year now. chrome-for-mac Google has just released a new beta of its Chrome browser for Macs today. As you know, Chrome for Mac arrived in December last year, but Mac users had to be content without Chrome extensions. The new beta release of Chrome for Mac offers extensions, bookmark sync, and more.
Extensions can add useful, informative, fun, or quirky functionality to the browser. You can manage your extensions by clicking on the Window menu and choosing "Extensions."
There are 2,200+ extensions now available for Chrome via the extensions gallery. The new Mac beta also allows you to sync your bookmarks across different computers. Below is a demo video of Google Chrome beta for Mac with extensions. Download Google Chrome for Mac...
twitter-direct-messages Any regular Twitter user will know how messy it can get with Twitter Direct Messages (DMs) collected over a certain period, especially since Twitter stores both Sent and Received DMs in our accounts. There doesn't seem to be any limit on number of DMs one can have, but then, there is no easy way to delete them all at once or in batches. Luckily, we now have a simple freeware tool to group delete Twitter DMs right from our desktop. Twitter DM Deleter is a portable tool to quickly view and delete DMs of your Twitter account. You can see all direct messages, then select few or all and delete them with a click of a button.

Twitter DM Deleter

Twitter DM Deleter is a portable tool. Hence, there is no need to install the app. Just unzip and run the tool. It will ask for your Twitter username and password. Provide the details and click on Authenticate. I know, some of you will be apprehensive in providing the Twitter login details to a new freeware app, but I can completely vouch for the safety of your login details, as I know the...
Even before Google has completely rolled out Google Buzz for everyone, there have been protests and unhappiness about it from certain quarters on the web. Some people are unhappy about the increase in intrusion of their privacy and few others find Google Buzz as an addition to ever-growing noise in social networking world. If you are one of those, feel lucky! It is not tough to keep away the Buzz from your Gmail inbox. According to Adam Pash, any Buzz notification automatically matches the Gmail query label:buzz, so all you've got to do is set up a quick filter to keep those Buzz notifications out of your inbox. Here's how it works:

Filter Buzz Notifications Out of Your Gmail Inbox

1. Click on Create a filter link in Gmail (next to the search box)

2. In "Has the words" text box, enter label:buzz. Click on Next Step. Gmail will warn you that Filter searches containing label and a few other search operators won't work, but don't worry, they seem to work just fine, so click OK and move on.

opera-mini-iphone Great news for Opera fans! Opera Mini will be making its way into iPhones and iPod Touch devices very soon. Apple has been very conservative when it comes to encouraging competition for its Safari browser. But finally, Opera has managed to port its mini browser onto the iPhone platform. At the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2010 convention, Opera has announced that it will unveil new Opera Mini for iPhone. To be very honest, this was long due and a much deserved web browser option for the iPhone users. At MWC 2010, Opera will show off Opera Mini for iPhone along with the Opera mobile web browsers for other mobile platforms. The press image of the Opera suggests that Opera Mini for iPhone will have speed dials just like Opera Mini for other mobile platforms. It would be interesting if Firefox also follows the Opera's footsteps. Even during October 2009, Mozilla had clarified that they have no intentions of porting Firefox onto iPhone platform, so it's a distant dream as of now. Google too can do a damage here by launching Chrome's mobile version for iPhone but the fact is the Chromium community has just got its...

Google unleashed it's latest tool - Google Buzz just a little while back. Google Buzz, as expected, will be accessible via Mobile phones as well. You can access Google Buzz via mobiles in one of the 3 ways possible -
  • from Google Mobile’s website,
  • from Buzz.Google.com (iPhone and Android), and
  • from Google Mobile Maps.
Note: In case you are still wondering what Google Buzz is all about, you can have a look at this post to get an idea. Google Buzz comes with geo-tagging feature, which (you might wish to turn-off) will figure out what building you are and ask you if it’s right. It even has voice recognition built in and posts it right onto your buzz in real time! In the mobile interface, you can click “nearby” and see what people are saying nearby. This is something Twitter and Facebook lacks, though some Twitter apps (paid and free) try to provide the feature. google-buzz-mobile You can layer Google Maps with Buzz. You can also associate pictures with buzz within Google Maps. Pretty interesting, isn't it? Conversation bubbles will appear on your Google...
For all the social networking freaks over here - Google has just announced Google Buzz, web's latest kid on the block which pushes Google into the social media foray. Not that Google didn't have connection with social networking, but with Google Buzz, they step into it in a big way! So, what is Google Buzz?

What is Google Buzz?

Google Buzz is a new social communication tool which is Google's take on "status updates" on popular sites like Facebook and Twitter. The best part of Google Buzz is that it integrates right into your GMail account. Google Buzz brings the underlying social network feature of Gmail to the surface by automatically setting you up to follow the people you email and chat with the most.

Over the past few days, since Apple released iPhone OS 3.1.3 firmware, so many people are asking this question - "I just Upgraded to 3.1.3 without checking with people first to see whether it was safe! What do I do now?" As you know, all the jailbreaking tools released till now (redsn0w, sn0wbreeze, pwnageTool) work only for older bootroms and baseband versions. We had previously written a guide on how to find iPhone firmware and baseband versions? So what if you accidentally upgraded your device to iPhone 3.1.3?

iphone-jailbreak-mistake

Since the situation is different for every iPhone model, I have decided to write up a post with answers to the question.

iPhone 2G

Jailbreak? Yes Unlock? Yes Relax, you're lucky. The original iPhone has been permanently pwned, and nothing Apple does can prevent your jailbreaking or unlocking your phone. If you have upgraded your phone, you will have lost your jailbreak and unlock, but you can easily get it back by running redsn0w 0.9.4. When it asks you to point it to the firmware currently installed on your iPhone, you will have to "trick" it by pointing it to the 3.1.2 ipsw instead. Redsn0w...
