Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 With PwnageTool 3.1.5

The iPhone Dev team have released Pwnage Tool 3.1.5which can create iPhone 3.1.3 custom ipsw files. This latest version of PwnageTool can jailbreak the original iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS(older bootrom only with baseband 04.26.08) and iPod touch (1G and 2G non-MC model) running on iPhone firmware 3.1.3. The custom .ipsw firmware files created with PwnageTool can update iPhone to firmware 3.1.3 without updating its baseband so that it can be unlocked to run on any carrier SIM. Interestingly iPhone Dev team hasn’t used any new exploit to jailbreak 3.1.3 firmware and is straightforward port of Pwnage2 and 24Kpwn to the new firmware. Note 1: If you had previously unlocked your device using blacksn0w for iPhone 3GS, then this is NOT for you. iPod touch 3G is also currently not supported. Note 2: PwnageTool 3.1.5 is for Mac OS X only. Windows users should follow the guide posted here or here in order to jailbreak and unlock iPhone running with firmware 3.1.3.

techcrunch The big daddy of Tech Blogs - TechCrunch has released a clarification on its policy and status of deletion of comments on its older posts, saying all the comments are still safe in the database and will be reinstated soon. This comes soon after Amit Agarwal, from Digital Inspiration wrote a post late yesterday on possibility of removal of comments in bunch on all the older posts of TechCrunch. Robin Wauters writes that
The title of that post left little to the imagination: it read “TechCrunch Removes Reader Comments From All Older Blog Posts”. That allegation in itself is inaccurate, as is most of the rest of the article, so I felt compelled to respond quickly and offer our side of the story.

Here is a small guide to check the iPhone firmware and Baseband versions. I was assuming everyone would know this, but few readers asked me about how to be sure about the baseband and firmware versions they are in. So here is a small tutorial for you guys, which will be helpful especially when you are trying to jailbreak/unlock your iPhone. All the iPhone configuration information are resided inside the “Settings” screen. Both firmware and baseband versions can be found under settings. So, simply tap on Settings and then tap on General.
