Few days back, the blogosphere was abuzz with news of a new jailbreaking tool called GreenPois0n which claims to jailbreak iPhone 3.2 very soon. We didn’t write about it since we didn’t want to fall for fake news like Gull1Hack. Now, it seems we have enough reasons to believe GreenPois0n to be genuine and not fake.
p0sixninja, the developer of GreenP0ison has posted a detailed post on his blog clearing out the confusions surrounding GreenPois0n, Chronic Dev Team and their authenticity. p0sixninja writes that, they have have found an exploit in the latest iPhone 3.1.3 firmware which will be able to unlock and jailbreak iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), and iPod touch 3G untethered. All they are now waiting is for the iPad with iPhone 3.2 to hit shelves on April 3rd.
Finding an exploit for the minor iPhone 3.1.3 firmware update is nothing new. Some of the hackers like Sherif Hashim and GeoHot had previously confirmed about existence of such an exploit, but none of them seem to be working on the exploit since they are waiting for a major update like iPhone 3.2 to come out.
As for the GreenPois0n, we are still not sure about its authenticity (a blog post is not enough to prove it), but hope it is not fake. For now, you can always refer to our detailed guide on jailbreaking and unlocking iPhone 3.1.3 using redsn0w 0.9.4 or sn0wbreeze or PwnageTool and unlock iPhone 3.1.3 using ultrasn0w
