Google is definitely trying new adsense layouts and features in some websites for the last couple of days. Have a look at the below screenshot taken from this blog just a few minutes back.

Can you notice the difference? The new layout shows the ad title and ad description on a single line. This is instead of showing the ad title and then a break and then a ad description. This is how the normal (present) adsense layout looks like

I guess, this new format is showing up on IE alone, as I never got to see it on Chrome and Firefox. Each letter of the Ad title is in caps as well as the first letter of every word in the description. Few users are reporting higher CTR due to this change, but personally I haven't noticed much difference w.r.t adsense CTR. Also, Seroundtable notes that the Google adsense featured ads, which used to be marked by a gold star are now being marked by yellow light bulbs.

Guest Post by Harsh Athalye IPL, the Indian Premier League has been such a rage in India and around the world since its introduction in 2008. For those of you who don't have a clue what IPL is, IPL is a twenty-over cricket tournament where top-class Indian and international players play alongside. Why IPL has become such a huge success? Is it the format, marketing, money or glamor, which is making it so popular? What blogging has to do with IPL? Why should I, as a blogger, care about IPL at all? Hold on, buddy! I will soon show you the connection between these two and how much we can learn from IPL and put it in practice while blogging.

1. Be Short and sweet

In IPL- Due to scientific advancements, everything in the modern world has become instantaneous. Speed is the mantra of the new world. Naturally, it boils down to game as well. Test cricket is already loosing its charm, but now with twenty-20 cricket, even one-day games are turning out to be painfully slow to watch. This fast format has brought out the intense and fierce competition between each team, resulting...

The Spirit Userland jailbreaking tool which is untethered jailbreak capable of jailbreaking all iDevices running iPhone 3.1.3 & iPad 3.2 will be released tomorrow, i.e Friday, April 30th 2010. This is a great news for many who were waiting to jailbreak their iPhones and iPads for quite sometime now. Check out this tweet from Spirit developer, Comex -

Spirit Jailbreak can jailbreak almost all the iDevices – MC/non-MC, new bootrom/old bootrom on iPhone 2G/3G/3GS, iPod touch 1G/2G/3G and iPad/iPad 3G. However it won’t work out of browser and can’t unlock iPhone, for that you might need to wait for next iPhone release at WWDC 2010, since it seems that an unlock for the latest baseband wont be released before the launch of the new iPhone in June. Update 1: Download Spirit to Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 and iPad 3.2 Update 2: Guide to Jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.3 with Spirit Untethered Update 3: Guide to Jailbreak iPod Touch 3G OS 3.1.3 with Spirit Untethered [via]
You must have come across a situation where in you are required to send an email to several people in a team/group at once, but still would like to add some additional information for only a few of them. I am sure you would have sent a separate mail for those selected few containing that additional info. Here is something to make your job easier. Bccthis for Gmail and Microsoft Outlook allows users to compose private, secure messages to selected recipients in the To, Cc, or Bcc fields of their emails while simultaneously sending a message to a broader group. It comes as a plugin for Microsoft Outlook and as a Firefox add-on for GMail. In either of the cases, you don't need to leave your composition window at all.

Bccthis for Outlook

Once you install the Bccthis plug-in for Outlook, you can quickly create an additional message to one or more recipients. You can even format this mail any way you like. The recipients do not need to have to install any plug-in in order to view these private/secret mails. When you try to Reply-To-All or Forward a Bccthis message, you are reminded about...
Have you heard the news that, starting July 8th, Facebook would be charging $3.98 a month to use Facebook? or is it $14.99 a month? or Rs 265 a month? Obviously this is not true and more so it is a scam.

facebook-charging-scam

This has been there for a while but seems to have picked up lots of steam over the last few weeks. Several Facebook groups have been started with an aim to scare and fool people that Facebook will start charging soon. When I searched for "Facebook charging" term in Facebook, I was shocked to see thousands of Facebook groups in the search results!

facebook-charging-groups

There are millions of Facebookers who have fallen prey to these scam groups which include some of my Facebook friends as well. The modus-operandi of these scam groups/pages is to get as many people to join their groups and then try different ways to extract money from unsuspecting users. The ways range from mobile subscriptions to free gift cards. I really wonder how these scam groups get through the Facebook filters. Looking at some...

firefox-fenec-android

Here is a quick heads up on the availability of Mozilla's Firefox Fennec mobile browser for Android phones. This is the first build of Fennec for Android which is still "pre alpha". It seems one must have either Droid or Nexus One to use it. I wonder why they have restricted the usage to these 2 phones alone. Update: Mozilla's Vlad has confirmed that they have tested Fennec on the Motorola Droid and the Nexus One only. He also warns about bugs which might hang your phone requiring you to reboot it. The memory usage of Fennec isn't great as well (for now). This could cause some problems with large pages, especially on low memory devices like the Droid. This build requires Android 2.0 or above, and likely an OpenGL ES 2.0 capable device. Download Fennec for...
