iPhone 4.0 was announced a little while back and everyone seems to be excited about the introduction of Multitasking in the latest version. But there is lot more in iPhone 4.0 than just multitasking. There are more than 100 new features introduced and here we list some of the most important ones
iPhone 4.0 – Important Features

1. Multitasking - Obviously, this one is the best of the lot, something Apple anti-fans were proud about till now. It’s handled with a simple task switcher: double click your home button, and you get a list of running apps. Select, switch, done. Multitasking is limited to audio (Pandora!), VoIP (Skype!) and GPS (Navigation!)
2. Fast app switching – with multitasking available now, the apps can just remain frozen when closed, so that when you reopen them, they are restored to exactly the same state they were in when they were closed.
3. Local Notifications – It will be the same as before, but there’s also another one: Local Notifications. They’re just like push notifications, but you don’t need a server.
4. App folders – This is something which excited me. Now you can sort your apps into folders! This means you can have almost 2000 apps stored in your iPhone/iPod Touch.
5. Unified inbox – Multiple Exchange accounts! Fast inbox switching! Threaded messages!
6. iBooks - This looks exactly same as the one on iPad, nothing great anyway.
7. Custom backgrounds – one of the main reasons given to jailbreak iPhones was ability to have custom backgrounds. Now you can choose a persistent background for your iPhone—and not just for the lockscreen.
8. Game center – Apple’s going to roll out a centralized gaming service—a multiplayer network like PSN or Xbox Live—to help connect games to one another, by the end on the year
9. iAd mobile advertising – Google, sit back and take a look. Apple has finally rolled out their advertising platform – iAd. You can watch videos, play games, and even buy apps from within these ads.
10. 5x digital zoom – This might be a hint for a better camera in newer versions of iPhone.
As mentioned before, iPhone 3GSes and iPod Touch 3rd-gens devices will get all of the features. The iPhone 3G and Touch 2G will get “many things,” which doesn’t include multitasking. Bad news for iPhone 3G and 3G users.

nothing – I cant see a software upgrade to 4.0 in my itunes
It seems that if you drew up a list of 10 things most people in a iPhone. All of them seem to have been addressed by iPhone 4.0
well multitasking is one of the outstanding features that is unleashed in the iphone 4
Well, true enough… iPhone OS 4.0 will lead a new hike for iPhones to be even more desired than it already is.
There are actually 100 changes that OS 4.0 will be providing to people having the iPhone 3GS. Multitasking is just one of the best and most awaited features of iPhone OS 4.0.
Muli-tasking and fast app-switching may or may not be a good thing. Let’s see how it pans out. I hope it doesn’t end up like being the WebKit browser where if the memory usage hits the ceiling, the browser closes.
Also, custom backgrounds shouldn’t be a “feature”. They sould have introduced a custom theme base altogether. Why they took so long we wouldn’t know, but it’s coming and that’s a good thing.
Finally the iPhone becomes more friendly to the tweaksters among us.
come on apple!! what about flash support!!! lame. they’re afraid to loose money if flash was available.
