Here is a quick heads up on the availability of Mozilla’s Firefox Fennec mobile browser for Android phones. This is the first build of Fennec for Android which is still “pre alpha“. It seems one must have either Droid or Nexus One to use it. I wonder why they have restricted the usage to these 2 phones alone.

Update: Mozilla’s Vlad has confirmed that they have tested Fennec on the Motorola Droid and the Nexus One only. He also warns about bugs which might hang your phone requiring you to reboot it. The memory usage of Fennec isn’t great as well (for now). This could cause some problems with large pages, especially on low memory devices like the Droid. This build requires Android 2.0 or above, and likely an OpenGL ES 2.0 capable device.
