The first pictures of the much-rumored Sony PlayStation Phone prototype have been leaked onto the internet, courtesy Engadget. This time though, the PSP phone seems like a real deal.
Engadget notes that the Sony PlayStation Phone is likely to include Android 3.0 alongside a Sony Marketplace to allow gamers to download games, much in the same way that you already can using a Sony PSP Go.
PSP Phone – Specs
The rumored specs of Sony’s Playstation Phone are pretty impressive.
- Android Gingerbread OS
- 1GHz Qualcomm CPU
- 5 megapixel camera
- 512MB of RAM
- 3.7″ or 4.1″ display with WVGA resolution or better
- D-pad and buttons with a wide touch pad in the middle
- MicroSD support
Though Engadget claims that the leaked pictures of the prototype PSP phone is real, we must reiterate that the final product need not be anything like the prototype. Though some pessimists might even doubt the plans of Sony coming out with a PSP phone, we believe otherwise, as it makes perfect business sense for Sony to get back their share in the smartphone market with an unique offering like a PSP phone.
PSP phone – Price & availability
The PlayStation phone isn’t expected to launch until 2011, since Android Gingerbread itself isn’t expected to arrive anytime soon. Predicting the PSP phone price will be a futile exercise, since the prototype isn’t anything near to what the final hardware might look like. But who can stop us from hoping for a competitive deal?
