Recently, the LED television market has boomed, with nearly every technology and gadget manufacturer trying to take a piece of the pie. We’ve seen the same sort of innovation and energy as we saw a few years ago with the earlier LCDs, and as with that period, the need for good consumer advice is present today as well.
Of course, we get that through our many great consumer reviews sites. According to some of the best consumer review sites, these five televisions most often appeared in the rankings. So, if you’re looking for the best LED HDTV, here are five choices to check out as you go about shopping for the perfect one.
LG Infinia LE8500
The LG Infinia LE8500 model is a back-lit LED television capable of locally dimming the display where needed to give you the best picture possible. Unfortunately, the way LG has it set up can cause occasional unevenness in the picture, which might drive some users away. Users might also consider minimizing its judder reduction feature through the TruMotion 240 hertz adjustment menu. That said, many of the reviews cite its rich blacks and vibrant colors as quality enough to overlook the local dimming issue, placing it in great competition against similarly styled and manufactured LED backlit LCD televisions.
Sony KDL-EX700
The Sony EX700 series of LCD televisions uses edge-lit technology to bring viewers the benefits of the latest LED technology for a cheaper price than some of its competitors. The television refreshes at 120 hertz and comes with the usual internet applications. However, the lower cost does bring with it several issues, noticeably restrictions on your ability to adjust its dejudder feature as well as, according to many reviewers, grey blacks and blue-tinged deep shadows. This television would be a good cost-effective screen for casual viewing.
Vizio XVT3SV
The Vizio XVT3SV television marks Vizio’s entrance into the LED market. Known for their budget LCD televisions, Vizio has now successfully created a product to compete with similar televisions that are more expensive. This Vizio makes use of local-dimming technology to control the picture quality, though it does seem to bloom a bit more than other local-dimming
LEDs at higher price points. Also, black areas can appear slightly blue, according to many reviewers. That said, the television can handle its fair share of vibrant colors and blacks much better than older generation LCD televisions.
Samsung UNC6900
Because this television is of the edge-lit LED variety, Samsung was able to make it one of the slimmest models on the market, just like its B8000 series television. In this model, you get much of the same quality viewing experience, though it does lack the 240 hertz refresh rate of the B8000, instead using a more standard 120 hertz refresh rate. However, many reviewers found that they couldn’t really tell a difference between the two refresh rates, so this might be a better
and cheaper option than the B8000 series.
Toshiba REGZA SV670U
Toshiba’s REGZA SV67OU also uses LED back-lighting with local dimming to achieve impressive picture quality over the more standard fluorescent lamps in earlier LCD models. This television works with back-lighting, in contrast to the edge-lighting that Samsung uses in its models. Like many of the above LED televisions, this one has impressed reviewers with its ability to show deep blacks and vibrant colors; however, reviewers consistently noticed more blooming in the display than on competitors’ televisions.
