Take this as a virtual confirmation. Google’s Chrome OS is set to be launched on December 7th 2010 along with the Chrome web store, according to the invitations to an event for the date related to Chrome. The event will be held in San Fransisco and the invite is as cryptic as it can get.

An invitation from the Chrome team

On December 7, you are invited to join us for an event in San Francisco, where we plan to share some exciting news about Chrome. Please RSVP to confirm your attendance.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Ever since Chrome OS was unveiled last year, it has become one of the most awaited technologies, since it takes the cloud based tech to a all new level. Chrome OS torrents have been in circulation for a long time, but the beta-ish OS is said to be buggy and not ready yet for public consumption.

This open source operating system, is designed specifically for the netbooks market to provide them fast experience using reduced boot and startup time. Speed, security and simplicity are the main aspects of Chrome OS.

Engadget got hold hold of what looks like the keyboard of a netbook running Chrome OS. Take this rumor with a pinch of salt, but wait for Tuesday morning when the Chrome event kicks off to reveal more details!
