There you go people. Verizon iPhone 4 is indeed true and was just made official by Lowell Macadam along with Tim Cook at an ongoing press conference. Verizon and Apple have been working on CDMA iPhone since 2008 and were testing it since last year.
Verizon iPhone 4 has all the features of its GSM counterpart – Facetime, Retina display, 5 megapixel Camera, HD video, A4 chip and everything else.
Verizon is considered to be the most stable and reliable network in the US and many users were hoping and wishing to see their favorite phone on Verizon network. Apple though, had signed an exclusivity pact with AT&T, but have finally released the CDMA version of the most popular phone handset in the world.
Verizon iPhone 4 – Pre Orders
Verizon had this to say about the pre-order dates of Verizon iPhone 4
“On February 3rd our existing customers will have an opportunity to pre-order… on February 10th, everyone will be able to order online, in stores, or in Apple stores.”
So, we have less than a month to go! Whoa! The official launch will be February 10th 2011.
Verizon iPhone 4 – Price & Data Plans
Verizon also announced the price and data plans for the new subscribers.
$199 for 16GB,
$299 for 32GB
And mobile hotspot is included for both the plans and for Up to 5 devices! Sadly, there is no mention of LTE enabled iPhone 4, so it doesn’t seem worthwhile to dump your AT&T subscription as yet. Termination fee + new Verizon subscription for the same iPhone 4, especially when iPhone 5 is expected later this year might not be such a wise move after all.
And if you were hoping for unlimited data plans, tough luck again, there was no such announcement from Verizon, though few people are still speculating about them. ‘HOPE’ is the word for you guys!
Update: Apple has confirmed that this is a multi year non-exclusive deal with Verizon. And Verizon has confirmed that there is no LTE as yet.
