As controversial as ad blocking is, there’s no doubt that it is popular. Adblock is the most popular Chrome extension as of this writing, with more than double the users of its nearest extension.
Millions of surfers are at least installing ad blocking applications and, though many sites complain about the practice, it is clearly a trend that is here to stay. As a web publisher, this is not something we personally like to suggest, since many publishers and bloggers depend upon such ads for their livelihood.
But if you do decide to download an ad blocker, there are many to choose from and ones for nearly every browser and operating system. With that in mind, here are ten of the more popular ad blocking applications out there and what they can do for you.

“Don’t be evil” says Google, information and services should be free. People should watch videos for free. We’ll make a free browser, free operating system, free picture viewer, free search free free free stuff. (applause) – How about free Google Ads?
Google is a great company and I love it. It's just that there are some things that tick me off with their holier than thou – We are good guys and Microsoft are bad guys approach. I’ve been thinking about it for months and I still can find an answer maybe someone would enlighten me after reading this.
Now that the Consumer Electronic Show(CES) is over, it is time to look forward. And right ahead we have the Mobile World Congress(MWC) to be held at Barcelona between 14th-17th Feb which gives us no time to pause. After all the madness & shine of new gadgets at CES, MWC is not expected to pass without its glory.
As we await for MWC, lets have a look at what we can expect from this big tech event show.
We expect even more rapid innovation in the web image format platform in the coming year and are focusing our investments in those technologies that are developed and licensed based on open web principles. To that end, we are changing Chrome’s HTML5 <img> support to make it consistent with the formats already supported by the open Chromium project. Specifically, we are supporting the PNG and SVG image formats, and will consider adding support for other high-quality open formats in the future. Though JPEG views an important role in images, as our goal is to enable open innovation, support for the format will be removed and our resources directed towards completely open format technologies that we like better.Some Good Samaritan cared enough to save the post over here.
