It was predicted that in this year’s CES 2011 the tip of the iceberg was networking and it was also said that electronic gadgets and devices will have more built-in networking capabilities than computers. The main theme of the networking vendors at CES 2011 was ‘Home is where the Network is’. This should not come as a surprise because since the past few years several home entertainment devices like flat-screen TVs, media playback devices, game consoles, and so on, include an Ethernet port. Others use USB Wi-Fi dongles to connect to a wireless network, and many even come with a built-in Wi-Fi adapter. The new trend now is for network vendors to transport digital entertainment than just business data and for this; they are introducing a new range of products that will enable consumers to watch movies, share photos, listen to music and perform many such entertaining activities without actually worrying as to where the real content is located. Apart from just rendering faster networking services to home-based consumers the vendors are also focused on improving the networking of small businesses who can use faster networks or big file transfers and backups. Along with this several small businesses can also make use of...

motorola-xoom-price

The tablet which won most hearts and accolades at CES 2011, Motorola Xoom has got a price tag, which is definitely not impressive if you were looking to buy it anytime soon. Though the official announcement of Motorola Xoom price and availability has not been made yet, HandTec, a popular online retailer from UK has listed down the price of Xoom as £719.99 inclusive of VAT, which is approximately $1120!

Motorola Xoom Price - Right or not?

Just a while back, Handtec had listed down Motorola Xoom for £660, but soon increased it to £720. The price tag is bound to tag many, who were hoping Xoom to be priced lower than Apple's iPad. For the records, iPad starts at £439 for the basic Wi-Fi with 16GB model, while costliest Wi-Fi+3G model with 64GB memory will cost £714. As per Handtec's listing, Xoom is priced more than the higher end model of iPad, not really wise that, if you ask me. Some of the accessories for the Xoom are also listed down and are priced as follows- Motorola XOOM Portfolio Case £47.99 Motorola XOOM Standard Dock £71.99 Motorola XOOM Wireless Keyboard £71.99 Motorola XOOM Speaker Dock £83.99 No official UK...
india-35-dollar-tablet Update: Economic Times reports that the $35 android tablet has hit a roadblock as HCL's tender has been canceled by the government for not being able to provide a Rs. 60 crore bank guarantee. You are free to skip the earlier report below. Update (Oct 5th 2011): Sakshat Aakash $35 tablet has been officially released today by Mr Kapil Sibal. Check out Aakash tablet. This is as mysterious and speculative as it can get. Back in September 2010, we were amongst the first ones to break the news about HCL teaming up with Government of India to manufacture 100,000 units of Sakshat tablet, the world's cheapest android based tablet, costing just around $35 for the end-users. At that time, HCL had neither rejected, nor approved the rumors completely. January 10th 2011 was the date set for the launch of Sakshat, which is today, but there are no confirmed news yet about the release except for some random blog posts like this which mentions about HCL Sakshat being available online starting today, in different screen sizes like 5-inch, 7-inch and 10-inches.

verizon-iphone

So, all those rumors about Verizon iPhone are indeed true. According to WSJ, the CDMA iPhone is almost certain to land up on Verizon and will be announced to the public on Jan 11th 2011. The talk of Verizon iPhone started way back in August last year and was again confirmed in October (again by WSJ), all of them indicating that the CDMA version will land up in January 2011. So this one should come as a non-surprise for many. cdma-iphone Not just that, some eagle eyed folks at iPodTouchFans have gotten hold of a Verizon listing which includes Apple and Apple iOS along with the existing ones like BlackBerry and Android. Update: Another big proof - Gizmodo was not invited by Verizon for their Jan 11th press conference!! This is a big thing to happen for consumers as many are not really in favor of single carrier exclusivity. Even from Apple's perspective, they had to go for Verizon who enjoy a supposedly better network service, i order to compete with Android's extra-ordinary growth in the past 6 months or so. WSJ says that The Verizon phone will be...
