social-media-noise

Getting social is on everyone’s to-do list, every day. Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Digg, StumbleUpon, LinkedIn and what not? These are some of the common places where people hangout online. And there are specific sites for people of specific interest. For instance, there are so many platforms for bloggers to come together, chat, shout and dance about their blogging ventures. It is all exciting, interesting, fun, and business. People tend to share, share and share all the time. But it seems that one needs to stop and think a bit to analyze one’s online social surrounding.

It is great to share all the interesting stuff everywhere and make noise about it. It is excellent to direct your followers and friends to all the great pages you just discovered. It is a wonderful business tactic to promote or broadcast your business to your online community. But is there something called a limit? It seems yes, indeed! It is fine to capture lovely and exciting moments and post them on Facebook. But what about 192 pictures of your baby yawning and 153 pictures of you holding a beer can? That is certainly too much!

Why should we seek if there is a limit at all when it comes to online socializing? It is because online social world can easily cause distraction. In the blink of an eye you could lose hours; unproductive hours that is. It is fun, it is business. Yes, social media sites are a great deal when it comes to socializing. Think of the number of friends and famous people you can meet online in a few simple clicks? No matter whether they reside next to you or they live on the other end of the globe, you can still connect with them with a few clicks. You talk to them almost in real time. The distance factor is no more.

When it comes to business, Twitter and Facebook are helping firms and big MLM companies to hire people online. Lots of recruitment are done via social media ads. Promoting a business is also a matter of few clicks. Social media promotion still remains one of the top factors that increase the ROI of all big and small countries. A Tweet and a Facebook share will make a lot of difference. Product launches are broadcasted via tweets and people finish off all pre-booking slots. Well, this is a healthy trend indeed. And, it needs everyone who runs business (online or offline) to be very active in social media.

For fun or for business social media are doing a great job. They aren’t to be blamed for unproductive hours, distractions and misleading. It all depends on the person who uses them and the purpose it is used for. If you use it for fun, use it with some margin. You don’t have to be all open about the happenings in your life. If you are using it for business don’t spam other people. Don’t just do one way promotion of your business alone, without having the courtesy to share others’ content and read what others are saying. It is you who makes it noisy or bored for others and it is your perspective if you feel that it is too noisy or boring for yourself.

Note, Find the margin and get it dead right!
