After all the tough battles in the NBA Playoffs, the top 2 teams will be facing each other during the best of 7 NBA Finals 2011. None of the teams from last year's finals will be there, rather, Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heats will be fighting it out in this year's finals. According to Bodog, the Miami Heat have the odds in their favor heading into the 2011 NBA Finals opposite the Dallas Mavericks. The vagaries of the NBA Finals schedule, the league uses a 2-3-2 format, with Game 5 in the lower seed's home arena (Dallas, in this case) and Games 6 and 7 back in the high seed's gym (Miami) -- impact the odds a bit. Heats are riding high after signing up LeBron James last year. Dallas Mavericks too aren't any pushovers with many of their players in top form in recent games. The Dallas vs Heats NBA Finals will kick off tonight at 9PM ET. The second game is on June 2 2011. Both the games will be in Miami. The third and fourth games will be played at Dallas on June 5th and June 7th. ABC will be telecasting the NBA Finals 2011...

wwdc-2011

Apple has just confirmed the unveiling of iOS 5, iCloud and Mac OS X Lion at the WWDC 2011 event to be held in San Francisco from June 6th to June 11th 2011. It puts to rest (well, almost!) any hope of a new hardware release at the WWDC. The onus is clearly on the software side of the trade for Apple this year with new upgrades to iOS and Mac OS X. Surprisingly, Apple has clearly mentioned that their CEO, Steve Jobs will be presenting the keynote at WWDC 2011 on Monday, June 6 2011 at 10am. There were some doubts on who would be presenting the keynote, considering the recent health status of Steve Jobs. But the charmer will be making it to the event nevertheless. As expected, Apple's very own cloud services offering, iCloud will be announced as well. Though they don't mention the name of this cloud service, it is pretty much clear that the name will be iCloud, as Apple had recently purchased the domain iCloud.com!
Apple CEO Steve Jobs and a team of Apple executives will kick off the company's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with a keynote address on...

ios-5

The much awaited WWDC event is round the corner and the rumor mill has begun to churn out expected announcements during the mega event. Apple is expected to announce iOS 5 during the WWDC 2011, which will possibly be running the next iteration of iPhone (iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S?) According to TechCrunch, Apple will be unveiling a completely revamped notification system and widgets in iOS 5. We have put together the most expected features of iOS 5 for your benefit.

iOS 5 - Revamped Notification System

ios-5-notification

The iOS notification system has been one of the more highly criticized aspects of the platform and is clearly due for a revamp. Android has shown, how a good notification system looks like and Apple has no option but to completely overhaul their existing system. Some people were expecting the new system when iOS 4 was launched last year, but not to be. There is no clear indications on how the new Notifications system looks like, but anything other than the current "Pop-up" boxes is a welcome change.

iOS 5 Widgets

google-wallet Google Wallet, soon to be launched mobile payments system from Google, which aims to make your phone your wallet has surely managed to garner enough eyeballs in the tech community. As expected, it will initially be available on Android only, specifically on the Google Nexus S 4G (from Sprint) and will work over contact-less NFC technology. How it works? With Wallet, Google wants to put tickets, credit cards, receipts, coupons, and even your driver's license in your Google Wallet. When you are shopping at a mall, all you need to do is open the Wallet app, enter the PIN, choose the credit card and wave your phone in front of an NFC chip reader to make the payment. For now, only MasterCard is supported, whose PayPass system is being utilized at the backend of Google Wallet. Google will not charge a transaction fee! You read it right. Google will NOT charge a single penny for any of the transaction you do using Google Wallet, though transaction fee (if any) is applicable on your credit card. Google will be taking all the pain to get the partners like Macy's, Subway, Walgreens, Toys R Us and others on board, but...
pcslow There is nothing more painful than a PC running slow. It is not always easy to pin point the process which is hogging the system memory and slowing down the PC. Yes, the default Windows Task manager provides you some information about memory usage and list of processes running, but it isn't capable enough to easily fix the issue. This is where, AbpMon chips in. AbpMon is a resizable and dockable toolbar for your desktop that graphically shows the most popular system information in real time:
  • Total CPU(s), memory (physical, virtual, cache and swap) usage
  • Data rates on local disks, network server/client, Dial-Up I/O
  • TCP/IP, VPN in/out data rates
  • Total number of User/GDI objects (in Windows 2000 or later)
  • Free GDI/User (system) resources (in Windows 9x/ME)
  • Total number of open Win32 handles (files, events and so on)

abpmon

As you can see in the screenshot above, the UI isn't the best we have seen in recent times, but it provides a magnitude of information in an easily comprehensible manner. It can show alerts from System tray about low resources or leaks like Low Virtual memory, Low GDI/USER Resource etc. The best part of AbpMon is the...

f-secure-antivirus-mac-1

F-Secure, one of the top security firms for PC, have released F-Secure AntiVirus for Mac with fast, real-time protection for home users and businesses. The software was in beta till recently, and we guess the recent malware attacks have hurried them to come out of beta and release the final version. For many Apple fanboys, "antivirus for Mac" is like an oxymoron. Apple has always boasted about how safe and secure the Mac ecosystem is. But the recent malware attacks have tarnished their image a great deal. As Brian X. Chen points out,
There's nothing about the Mac that makes it inherently more secure than Windows-- indeed, the Mac platform has been easily penetrated in the Pwn2Own hacking contest in years past. But Windows has always been a juicier target for malicious hackers because it has much larger market share than the Mac.
So, an antivirus security suite is now a necessity for your Mac more than ever. With gradual increase in sales of Macbooks, Macbook Airs, Macbook Pros and iMacs, we can surely expect many more malware and trojans cropping up on Mac. Though there are other options...
iphone-4-india Back in April, we had broken the news of iPhone 4 launch in India through the press releases of Airtel & Aircel, two of the major mobile service providers in India. Though it is more than obvious that iPhone 5 launch is near, the less fortunate Apple fans in India are left to celebrate the launch of iPhone 4, after almost a year since it was released globally. Airtel had already started taking pre-orders for iPhone 4, but it looks like Aircel will be the first one to launch the device in India.

iPhone 4 Price in India

Aircel has just sent a press release announcing that they will be launching the iPhone 4 this Friday for both prepaid and postpaid customers. It will start retailing at
  • Rs 34,500 ($763) for the 16GB model &
  • Rs 40,900 ($905) for the 32GB model.
Unlike iPhone 3GS in India or iPhone 4 elsewhere, the phone will follow a reverse-subsidized model, i.e you will have to pay the iPhone price upfront, but you have the opportunity to recover its full cost in terms of monthly credits over the next 2 years. Not so attractive, isn't it? We do have the breakdown of tariff plans...
