Nowadays, most of the mobile devices use the 3G technology, which, as the name suggests, is the third generation of the ever developing mobile technology. When it was developed, its main purpose was to combine voice, data and video feeds into a single signal to be used by mobile terminals. It was also capable of higher transfer speeds than the old generation, thus making web browsing a lot easier and quicker.

Apart from the advantages brought by the new technology to mobile phone users, it also spurred the development of other mobile devices, such as tablets, which could now use mobile carrier networks to connect to the internet and as such gave great accessibility all over the world. It basically meant that users were no longer bound by finding Wi-Fi hotspots or relying on the outdated GPRS technology to connect. Technology, however, as anyone can confirm, has a way of not standing still and continuously evolving. As such, for a little time now, a new generation of the mobile technology appeared. It’s called the 4G and it has been in development for a while. While not revolutionizing the mobile tech world,...
In a world where old does not become gold, constant re-invention is the need of the hour. With its Chromebooks, Google is trying to revolutionize computing by changing to a browser-centered model. Chromebooks are sleek, slim and can easily be disassembled. Chromebooks does not need beefy parts that a Windows-based laptop needs for performing faster and for that it relies on the Intel Atom N570 processor to power systems.

What are Chromebooks?

ChromeBooks

It is in keeping with Google's vision of a world where people are free from the burden of a computer, thus taking cloud computing to a higher level. Chromebooks resemble the less-powerful-than-a-laptop netbooks, but rely almost entirely on Google Chrome OS. They use a mix of sophisticated web apps, HTML5 and a higher-powered version of the Chrome browser. Chromebooks are designed after laptops and computers thus leaving some trace of familiarity behind.

Where Chromebooks Fall Short?

But all is not hunky dory with the Chromebooks. The fundamental thing about the Chromebook is that it runs Chrome OS, made by Google, thus having no desktop, but a browser window. Being on the cloud operating system it functions as a device with access to internet...
green-technology Going green, reducing carbon emissions and thus saving our planet from overheating has been one of the major topics of debate for some time now. One of the major points being made by environmentalists is that everyone should try to do their best to help and that even a small change in our power consumption is bound to have an effect on the general scheme. Let’s not forget that only a very small amount of the electrical power being used today is made using renewable sources. Most of it comes from large factories burning fossil fuels, which leave a huge carbon footprint. Saving power applies even to users of mobile technology, such as tablets and mobile phones. One might say that charging a mobile phone battery uses up only a small amount of power and as such lowering the little phone’s power consumption will only make a small, unnoticeable difference. While that may be true for just the one phone or tablet, looking at the big picture shows a different side of the story. Mobile phone sales have skyrocketed in the past period. And the development of more mobile devices, such as tablets,...
Online Working in Public Places With internet and also mobile devices in hand, people take advantage of their traveling, waiting or relaxing hours to do some real work, that too, online. Apart from working at office, it is more likely that you sit and work at home. In some cases, you cannot work either at office or at home, and obviously you have to choose in between these two. This will be no other place than a public environment, if you choose a third option. It can be park or a coffee shop or a restaurant or traveling medium like car, train or airplane. Since these places are neither your office nor your home, you cannot expect the 'comfort' or you won’t find these places to be suitable and handy to work. But you can still make the most out of such distractive work places if you practice some little things. Pack Your Resources - Within these public places, sometimes you will have very few options to choose where to work from. Once the place is decided, you have to settle down quickly. You should have a checklist of jobs that are to be performed and their...

Can we really separate ourselves from all the hardware and software that we use every day? Some would say that it’s for the best. The mobile phone is not only able to be used for phone calls and messages anymore. We’ve got the media player, camera, internet connection, calendar, document viewer, GPS navigator, games and so on; the list is...
ipod-stopped We all know that a new iPhone 5 might be coming out in autumn. We also know that Apple may be gearing up to update the iPad. Now, however, some voices have arisen and started spreading rumors regarding the third brother in the Apple mobile family, the little iPod. And it’s not good news, as apparently the music player is on its way to the recycle bin. The same voices go further to say that this is an insider's job and that the ones to blame for the decline of the iPod are Apple themselves.
