sexy_geek Yes, you read that headline right. Being a geek isn’t just for geeks anymore. And thousands of school-uniform-wearing Asian girls agree. Being a geek these days is cool, something to be proud of. And, yes, it is sexy. In honor of Embrace Your Geekiness Day (July 13th), I think it’s about time for all of us geeks to take pride in our esoteric knowledge of defunct sci-fi television series and our deep understanding of medieval weaponry. Geeks, it is time that you knew why you were sexy.

1. Brains

Of course the first item had to be brains. First of all, chicks dig smart guys. If you’re a geek, you can help people with their computers, dominate a game of trivial pursuit, and wow your date with your in-depth knowledge of natural history on a trip to the museum. And contrary to popular belief, guys dig smart girls too. Who wants to have a conversation with a woman who only talks about tanning and eyeliner? Give me some depth. Brains are sexy, period. lara-croft-cosplay

touchscreen-protection

The Touchscreen technology is nothing new, and full touchscreen mobile phones have long since become a standard gadget to have for any tech freak. We have become accustomed to type phone numbers, write messages, flip through media files and so on simply by pressing or sliding either an object such as a stylus or fingers on the display of our mobile friends. However, how many of you have given the smallest thought to the constant damage brought by our fingers or even worse, fingernails or styluses, to the display? The normal touch screens on mobile phones are not meant to last forever while enduring the punishment brought on a daily basis. And nowhere is that more true than in the case of games. When using other features, such as phone book, SMS or media library, we aren’t stressing the touch screen too much. On the other hand, how many of us haven’t become frustrated when playing a game and thus either pressed harder or roughly slided our fingers along the surface of the poor, defenseless display. So, what is being done to protect the fragile components of a touch screen? As I’m sure...
cygnett-ipad2-case I have been using a couple of uber-cool Folio cases for my iPad 2 - Cygnett Glam and Cygnett Windsor for over a month now. During this time, I got many other cases for review, but every time I went back to these Cygnett cases, which must tell you how mighty pleased I am using them. As a professional, full-time blogger, I do attend quite a few tech events and the iPad 2 is the only thing I carry along (along with my phone of course). Safety of my iPad is my utmost priority and this is why I love the folio cases, specially the leather ones. No matter how many people have Galaxy Tab or some other tablet, iPad 2 still manages to get some eye-balls in these geeky events. Having a good looking and well designed casing surely helps me in this regard. Cygnett has come out with some of the best iPad 2 folio cases I have seen till now.

design-technology Intrigued by the different mobile phone technologies, varied home appliances, and amazing network structures? Well what’s the similarity between all these? Of course, the impressive design. Be it a simple building construction or a complex networking; design is the X-Factor. Your design can make or break your whole project. With competitive advantage gone in the wind and competitive disadvantage playing a major role, the designing sector of all organizations are scratching their heads to somehow cope up and survive in the competitive market. Mobiles - Just a decade ago most of the people didn’t know what a mobile is or they weren’t able to afford to buy it. But nowadays, it’s hard to find a person sans mobile phone. Mobiles are no more just a device to make calls; mobiles of these days are designed to do video calls, sms, mms, email, chat, maps and what not? Everything can be done through a mobile. Thanks to the designing department for making life so easy. The design of mobiles hasn’t stopped yet we have iPhones, tablets, smart phones and lots more reaching the market every single day. People literally have obsessive compulsive disorder on mobiles; thus 'design' in...
haiku What other operating system aside from those made by Microsoft, Apple, Linux, Google do you know? Have you ever heard about Haiku Alpha 3? On June the 20th the great Gurus from Haiku Inc. decided to indulge us with a new release of the treat that this OS truly is. Well so you are probably asking yourselves: what is this Haiku? Back in the days when Mac OS X wasn't even on the drawing board and I probably just learned to say my own name, there was this OS called BeOS and he was the crème de la crème back in the early 90's. It showed an impressive design and features that made all the other OS on the playground appear like old geezers and looked at it in envy. Before Steve Jobs got back to Apple the rumors were saying that BeOS will replace the aging Mac OS on their hardware. Sadly, that didn't happen. Steve got back, brought his own designs, technologies and from there on, you pretty much know that history as you probably have a little part of that in your pocket. BeOS couldn't survive the completely...

3d-gaming

Are you a hardcore gamer? Then, you will either have a crush on 3D or conversely, you may have certain negative perceptions about it. 3D gaming is an area with mixed reviews. A recent report from Guardian says,
"Although 3D televisions seem to be hyped about by the television companies, the users of 3D TVs may be lower than the expected"
Out of 11 million proposed 3D TV users in UK; it’s found that only less than half will actively use this service. This should hold good for any other country as well. Although 3D will soon become a default feature of TVs and PCs, the 'mixed reviews' conclusion will still be given by the end users. Hence, the challenge in future, for sure, lies in the "active" usage of the 3D services by the gadgets. Because, only the active usage will mean the most benefits for all concerned. ps3-3d If you think what difference 3D is going to make to gaming; then 3D does nothing more than cutting the hairline gap between the game world and the real life, thereby making the game more real and interesting. The mantra in 3D gaming is...
google-plus As you might all know by this time, Google has come out with a brand new social networking service to rival the ever-growing Facebook, aptly named Google+. The service is currently invite only, but is getting a lot of traction from early users (including me). In case you are already on Google Plus and wishing to move all (or selected) Photo albums from Facebook to Google+, you would first need to transfer the photos to your Picasa account and then link them up on your Google+. But wait, you can do the same thing easily in just a couple of clicks using Move2Picasa! An experimental project from Amiworks, Move2Picasa requires you to link it with your Facebook and Picasa accounts and automagically migrates the photo albums from Facebook to Picasa. move to picasa As you would expect, the time required for migration is directly proportional to the number of photos you have in Facebook & also the current number of photos in the migration queue of the service. For now, you will be forced to migrate ALL your photos...
