Reliance Communications, the struggling telecom provider from India has hopped on to the tablet space by launching an Android tablet, aptly named Reliance 3G Tab! The tablet has been manufactured by the Chinese company, ZTE Corp, but will be sold under Reliance’s brand name.
Reliance 3G Tab – Specs
The Reliance 3G tablet comes with a 7-inch capacitive touch screen and will be powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS (and no Honeycomb!). The device has 512 MB RAM and a micro SD external storage which can support up to 32 GB data storage card. It also comes with a sub-standard 2 MegaPixel camera and a VGA front camera for video calling.
Other features include Mobile TV, voice calling, GPS and video recording. Reliance will ship these 3G tablets with some in-built apps aimed towards both business & casual users.
Reliance 3G Tab – Price
Reliance communications had recently launched their 3G service in various parts of India and the launch of this tablet is aimed at promoting their 3G service. The Reliance 3G Tab is priced at INR 12999 which is approximately USD 290. The tab comes with two Reliance Super Value combo offer and also monthly 3G value plans. There are 3 monthly data plans – 1GB, 2GB 7 5GB which would cost Rs 17500, 18500 and 20000 respectively, when bought with the android tablet.
To start with, the Reliance 3G Tab will be available in Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi and can be bought from Reliance World, Reliance Mobile stores and select outlets across the 13 3G circles in the next few days.
