Smartphone market is growing at a rapid pace. As per the latest survey conducted by Nielsen, four out of every ten mobile phones sold in US fall under smartphones. The market is flooded with Android based phones of Samsung, HTC, LG and Motorola. As of now Samsung takes major chunk of the Android sales.
Droid Bionic – the newly launched smartphone from Motorola is likely to give stiff competition to other brands in terms of technological capabilities. The phone is powered by 4G technology in association with Verizon carrier. With the exception of the price, the handheld device comes with great features and endless list of accessories. Originally scheduled to be launched in the 2nd quarter of 2011, it was delayed till Sept 8, 2011. The phone surfaced for the first time at the Consumer Electronic Show, 2011 along with other Motorola models, Atrix, Xoom and CLIQ2.
Technical analysts are unable to find the target audience for the newly launched, Droid Bionic. It has such extensive features. The Droid comes with stunning User Interface which beats all the previous Motorola’s pieces. The phone is equipped with Gingerbread Android OS. 4G based Android phones provide secured and high speed data connection.
The phone draws criticism from some section of tech geeks for failing to highlight the features from the user’s point of view. The phone comes with dual core processor, 1 GB RAM and internal storage of 16 GB. The phone supports micro-SD of 16 GB. It has a front facing 8MP camera with led flashing and plays both MP3 and MPEG 4 files. The sleek sized little over half inch thick mobile has a screen size of 4.3″ with a resolution of 540×960. It can be connected to television through HDMI output. The phone comes with mirror mode for playing games and other applications. Unlike thunderbolt, Droid Bionic is fitted with a strong battery (1735mAh) which delivers power for many hours even if you play videos and games.
The phone comes with docks that can be used for every occasion. It has HD multimedia dock, car dock, home dock, lap dock and webtop adapter. You will be able to browse on a full screen. These features enhance the performance of your smartphone and make it a handy mobile computer. The interesting feature is the ability to control everything on your smartphone using the remote control. The remote controlling unit is fitted with buttons for navigation, media playback and all the standard android buttons. The 4G coupled with the dual core processor helps you access YouTube videos at a blazing speed. With home internet connection you can expect two to three Mbps upload speed and 12 Mbps download speed.
The phone can also be used as a hotspot by which the internet access can be shared with four or more computers. Even though the mobile has a cutting edge in technical perspective, cost-wise it may not attract large pool of customers. The unit priced at $300 and with a monthly subscription of $30 for the usage of internet and other valued added services, may not be attractive enough to make quick bucks through sales!
