All-in-one machines have become a norm these days. A single machine for your small office can take care of your printing, scanning and photocopying needs. But not everyone will have access to such All-in-one's. If you are one of those who has a printer and scanner, you can easily combine them to act like a photocopier, thanks to a simple software called iCarbon.

icarbon

I know some of you are already pointing me towards the accompanied software provided by some of these new gen scanners. But more often than not, the software suite they provide are heavy. Why to bother when iCarbon can do exactly that for less than 2 MB of your hard disk space?
"iCarbon allows you to combine your printer and scanner into a photo copier using a small and fast program. All TWAIN-compatible scanners on your computer can be acquired with one click, as can all your printers. Scan/Print is just one simple operation."
Once you download iCarbon (from here), you can use it on any Windows computer. No installation is required and you can run it even from a USB drive. Just choose your scanner from iCarbon, place the document you want to...

When it comes to web browsing, the first names that come into our mind are Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera and for some - Safari. There are other names in the browser industry but their share is much lower. Now that we have more and more smartphones and tablets, it's obvious that the mobile browsers will play a more important role in the web reshaping. Smartphones and tablets are getting more and more versatile, trying to deliver information as comfortable as possible. You have to agree that sitting on your couch, with your smartphone or tablet in hand and surfing online is much more pleasant than doing the same in front of your day-to-day computer. You need a mobile browser for your device because it will display pages to fit your screen and will also load pages that are rich in web elements much faster than a default browser; as that one obviously "burns" more resources, thus making the response time much slower. What we want from our mobile browser is for it to be fast and render the content that we want at a good quality. The...
These Facebook scams hardly ever fail to amuse me. I say this for two major reasons. One, there are always enough gullible users, no matter how many scams have embarrassed them and two, Facebook hasn't really found out a way to tackle these spammers. Tackling might be far fetched, I doubt if they even have an intent to keep off these spammers. Well, the biggest Facebook scam underway right now is about Free Facebook T-shirts and I'm seeing a lot of not-so-gullible users getting trapped this time around.

free-facebook-shirt

Though the modus-operandi isn't new, the pictures and the wordings used are as believable as they can get. Look at the example screenshot above. Unless you are like me, who always believe that all the links shared on Facebook with multiple adjectives are guilty until proven innocent, there is a high chance of falling for the free offer! There are multiple versions of the scam going on right now. Some of them claim that Mr. Zuckerberg is giving away free Facebook t-shirts on the occasion of seventh birthday of the biggest social network in the world. Of course Facebook was started in 2004...

what-is-vpn

Having your own VPN server has some major advantages. Before we get into that let us first understand what a VPN is.

What is a VPN?

When you are working from office or from home where you have multiple computers, they are usually connected with one another using the same network. This enables you to easily share files, printers and user sessions securely with other computers in the network. But what if you want to start sharing with a computer outside your local network? Of course you can do that using the internet, but then, there are chances of security getting compromised, as potentially, the data is publicly accessible. This is where VPNs come to your rescue. VPN or Virtual Private Network lets you create a safe and secure channel between two computers on different networks in any part of the world!

Why to Create a VPN?

As I mentioned before, having your own VPN server has some major advantages. Consider some of the use-cases:
  • Office: Using VPN, companies can let their employees to securely connect their computers to the office network from any part of the world.
  • Home: Some web services like Hulu, Netflix,...
Consumer technology is growing at an incredible pace; we now have smartphones that can do pretty much everything what a computer 10-15 years ago used to do and even much more than that. An advanced phone or tablet can replace your video and photo camera, GPS device, gaming console and with the help of hundreds of applications you can have all the information that you need. However, these devices are not that good for production, they are more suitable for consumption. As versatile as a tablet or smartphone couldn't get, it can't yet match the comfort and the safety of working from your desktop PC. Of course, a laptop or netbook can be equally good, since their main contribution is that you can take your office everywhere with you. Nevertheless, most of your available time is being spent in front of your stationary personal computer. That is, if your job consists in doing so. But, let's face it, who doesn't spend hours in their office, working in front of a computer? It has become a vital part of our daily lives, being responsible for many of the tasks that we have to accomplish.

iphone-remote Guest post by Calvin Scott. Rumor has it that Apple is looking into developing its own brand of television and with the number of ways Apple has made entertainment easier to access and display or listen, many industry observers would not be surprised to see that happen. However, until the time comes when the Apple logo is on your television, you can check into the ways your iPhone can work with compatible television sets you may already own. Consider how much time, as well as how often, you spend looking for your television’s remote control. Now, consider how often you have lost or misplaced your iPhone. That likely happens far less frequently than turning over the couch cushions to find the remote control and it always seems to happen when you absolutely need to change the channel or even turn the volume up or down. Television remotes might be as big as a brick but chances are they have become lost. New apps for your iPhone can solve the problem of missing remote controls, provided of course, you have a newer compatible television set. There are several third-party apps that basically turn your iPhone into a...
The 3D revolution has seriously shaken the way in which we perceive technology. We now have 3D television sets, 3D smartphones, 3D laptops, cameras, game consoles and we should expect soon enough to see on shelves, the 3D tablets as these devices seem to be on the highest wave on technology nowadays. But have you ever stopped and asked yourself - how in God's name 3D works? Ok, that might not be too hard to answer, but glassless 3D technology? Is 3D the start of a complete new technological age?

3D Technology: From Beginning Until The Glasses-Free Period

The History of 3D Technology

You think 3D is a recent discovery? It's actually not. People started talking and analyzing 3D technology even in the 19th century, when Sir Charles Wheatstone described the process of stereopsis”the mind perceives an object of three-dimensions by means of the two dissimilar pictures projected by it on the two retinae”. In plain English, this basically means that two similar overlaid images project another one, more realistic for your sense of perception.

Why did the first, "old" 3D glasses had blue and red colors? Well, because it was...
