Guest Post by Elijah Bitson. If you are like me, the minute the now famous Instagram, an iPhone Photo app was released to the market, you would have felt left out and down. The app was a success as it made photo editing and uploading to social networking websites very easy and convenient. The reason why this was done is to advertise the application, and boy was it advertised, causing more grief and stress to android fans. All is not lost however because android users can still add some artistic flare and touch up on their photos. The best thing about the android app market is the fact that it is home to some of the greatest free apps you could ever find anywhere else. Some of the notable photography apps for the android that you should take advantage of include-

1. Vignette Demo

Android is a mobile OS that is renown for the fact that it is open source, which means that, theoretically, everybody in the community can contribute to the improvement of the Android OS. If you are new to android, you might get overwhelmed with the number of apps available at your disposable. Are you afraid that you will end up paying too much or this something that is totally strange to you - making video-calls using your phone? I admit that even I don't use this feature a lot, for two big reasons. One is that when I need to make a video call, I am usually near my computer, at home. If I need to urgently make video call to somebody and am outside the house, I just don't feel comfortable smiling at the phone and attracting curious looks from everybody around me. So, if you want to make a video call using your Android smartphone, you shouldn't make the same mistakes I do. After all, why should you care what others think? In a matter of few years, the entire consumer technology will change and you will see more and more people hanging out with their tablets, for instance....
Just about a week back, I posted that poor battery management has been my biggest gripe about Android as a mobile OS. But then the fragmentation is an equally big issue for many users. Michael Degusta has done all the hard work and has come out with an infographic which shows the sad state of support for majority of the Android smartphones released in US in the past couple of years.

Support for iPhones

As you can see from the infographic above, Apple has been supporting 3 year old iPhone 3G & iPhone 3GS till now. Their latest OS - iOS 5 is available (though with certain limitations) on every model except the original iPhone (which is more than 4 year old now). Same is the case with iPod Touch & iPad.

Android Updates

Recently, Google announced that their flagship android phone - the Nexus One, won't be getting the latest Android 4.0 update. Nexus owners have traditionally been luckier than the rest when it comes to Android OS upgrades, hence this news sent shockwaves amongst android users. Michael says-
Other than the original G1 and MyTouch, virtually all of the millions...
If you've been living under a rock or hidden inside a cave or just not giving a damn on where technology is heading, then cloud storage may sound to you like some noisy brouhaha. Who am I to talk? I am regarded by relatives, friends like the "computer guy", but I'll admit that I am not an avid user of the cloud, not that it isn't a great tool for the safety and comfort of your files, but because I was just too lazy to use such an user-friendly product.

Cloud Storage - An Useful Tool in this Digital Era

Everything changed in the past 6 months when I realized that I no longer can rely only on my laptop and various storage devices. My gmail account got hacked and I could have lost access to important documents that I used to keep on my free email account. And my troubles didn't stop there. After a nice trip in Italy, I discovered that I accidentally deleted very important pictures (they were more important to my girlfriend than me) and I panicked for a moment. Yes, I know that files don't get deleted right away on your hard drive, but, nonetheless, I freaked...

sleep-comp

With its sleek looks, amazing intelligence and ability to go all night, a new class of digital snuggle buddies is giving the traditional bed partner a run for their money. Laptops, cell phones, iPads - personal electronics have an extra dose of around-the-clock functionality that makes them hard to resist. But does this really make for the perfect relationship? In the areas of physical and psychological awareness, health experts say not quite.

Too Many Junk Searches Equal Junk Sleep

Social media consumers’ long-running relationship with personal electronics is on the rocks. And as they continue to sacrifice sleep for extra hours online, their physical health is feeling the affects. According to research by the American Sleep Association, close to 95 percent of Internet users polled, surf the Web in the hour before trying to sleep. Many admit to using these devices in the middle of the night. Besides the focus of the sleep-technology connection, the poll also found that many Americans are not happy with their quality of sleep. Surf less, sleep more. Seems pretty straightforward, right? Well, while in the grand scheme of things a 3 am Facebook update or meaningless...
Hold on for a minute? What the heck is "augmented reality"? What do you mean by that, does the reality gets more ... real? It seems that the Android OS has gone a fair way since its first release. You only need your smartphone and a bunch of augmented reality applications for Android and you can become an amateur engineer, designer or astrologist. But hey, it's not something totally new. Just like with the 3D technology and the glasses-free 3D technology, this is actually an old concept that didn't develop further because there weren't gadgets or devices to propel a mass adoption. The history of augmented reality goes back into the '70, when Morton Heilig created the Sensorama device, a tool that render 3D image, stereo sound and even had aromas and wind during the display of movies. What does this all mean? That's right, the augmention of the reality. Forty years after the first pioneering step in this field, we now have people that are crafting augmented reality applications for daily use, not only for special moments, like seeing a movie or listening to a song. The augmented reality applications augment and modify the reality using the...
