Guest post by Sachin Kulkarni. Google has launched an activity recommendation engine by the name Schemer. It is a service which helps you to share your day to day experiences and weekend activities. Say, you discover a new restaurant nearby your residence, which serves yummy food, then you can go ahead and share this with your friend circle. This is what Google Schemer is all about. This is a new social product after Google plus, a Facebook competitor.

Currently, this product is in invite-only beta stage, but you can add yourself to the wish list right on the home page of Schemer. After all, Schemer is not a new concept at all. There are people who have stepped in this kind of product long before Google. Let's take a look.

Hunch.com – Build Taste Graph

As per my knowledge it was Hunch.com who first came up with such a concept. It was an online platform launched in 2009 that delivers customized recommendations to its users based on their individual tastes. They are the people who were known to build a Taste Graph. They also built an API around their product. But...
google-currents-review-2 This has been a very busy week and bad news is that it is not over yet. There was the Le Web where Eric Schmidt showed of Android 4.0 (ICS) on the Nexus S and on the tablet, Twitter came out with  a new UI for Android, iOS and web, also updated the Desktop UI, we also saw the Facebook app for Android UI changes. Yup, have been busy. We also saw the launch of the famous Flipboard app on the iPhone and the iPad which lets you see the regular news feeds in form of magazines with rich text formatting and good UI. Just last night, Google uploaded Google Currents to the Android market and the Apple App store which seems to be Google's answer to Flipboard. Let's look a bit closely to this application. First of all I was disappointed when I came to know that this application is available only in the U.S for now. With Le Web going on, I thought at least Google will make it available in Europe, also Hugo Barra who was present at the Le Web demonstration did not show any peek or give hints...
logitech-keyboard-case-ipad-2 No matter how much we love the touchscreens, virtual keyboard is still considered to be a compromise. With full touchscreen devices like iPad 2, navigating through the device is a breeze. But when it comes to typing long emails or posts, it is still a pain to use the virtual keyboards. Keeping this in mind, Apple has ensured that their Wireless Bluetooth keyboard works fine with iPad (and iPad 2). Thankfully, we now have a huge collection of Bluetooth keyboard cases which we will be reviewing one-by-one over the coming days. We start off the campaign with Logitech Keyboard case by Zagg. Keyboard cases like this one from Logitech have couple of advantages over Apple's wireless keyboard-
  • They have some iOS specific keys like search which are missing from the Apple wireless keyboard
  • They also act like cases for the iPad, ensuring better portability

Logitech Keyboard Case for iPad 2 by Zagg

This keyboard case from Logitech is one of the most popular ones available in the market right now. Logitech has always been known for their keyboards and mice, but not much for their cases. This is why they have teamed up with...

Keeping in mind that Christmas is right around the corner, many of you must be looking for gifts or just to upgrade your old gear, whatever the situation, the decision of buying a new laptop can be a difficult to some people, but after figuring out what are you going to use your laptop for and how much are you willing to spend on it, you will see the pieces of this puzzle will fall into one. Seeing that many of you had appreciated our Which Desktop PC to Buy article, we decided to shed some light on the difficult decision of buying a laptop. Depending on what type of work do you want your laptop to use, you can classify laptops in 3 major categories:

1. Entertainment Laptops

These laptops don’t need the most powerful components you can find, and for the majority of users, these will get the job done. However, if entertainment for you means Blu-Ray discs or Full HD ability, then you'll have to pay some extra bucks for this pleasure.

2. Business...

As you all know, Google released the source code of their new OS, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, on November 19, featured on the new Nexus Prime. The new OS from Google is packed full with features and advances in security and in future updates, with all the kinks ironed out, these features could pave the way for better mobile security.

Important Features in Android Ice Cream Sandwich

1. On-Device Encryption

This is a good thing for mobile security, but it also depends on many variables: the strength of the the security algorithm, the keywords used to decrypt the information and most of all, the master password for these keywords. These variables create a chain of security, but like any chain, it’s as good as its weakest link. And for transmitting data to another phone, this encryption cannot be used, due to the difference in everyone’s encryption.

2. Email Copy and Paste

A feature that has the potential to ease everyone’s browsing and writing of emails, but yet again, it has a dent in its security, and that is third party apps which are used to open attachments, and these may not have the same security of the operating system.

3. Capture Screen Shots

The answer to that question is a simple: YES; you can very much afford an electric car. Although all you see on TV regarding electric cars is a price tag of minimum $40000, there are models out there for the everyday man. The common misconceptions about electric cars are that they are complicated, they are slow and they don’t pollute by exhaust, but the factory producing the electricity they work on pollutes, thus by building more electric cars, the more energy is needed for them, and so, more pollution, etc. There are lots of reasons fabricated to undermine the electric car, but most of them are completely false. First of all, electric cars are just like normal petroleum based cars when it comes to prices: there are those exceeding $100,000 and those that cost $5,000. To address the other issue about electric cars, that they are complicated and need continuous maintenance, that is not true. Just think of a normal car, with its motor, gearbox and the other parts it consists of, there are thousands of moving parts, many of them moving parts that break down fairly easily. In comparison, an electric car has only 1 moving part, and that is its motor.
