If you were thinking that 10.1″ tablets are too big for your day-to-day use, step back and think again. An alert TechPP reader spotted this monstrous 12″ tablet at the ongoing MWC 2012 in Barcelona, running the latest Android 4.0 Ice-Cream Sandwich OS, named Capricorn 120A.

Capricorn 120A is a slick and lightweight tablet that comes with a 11.6″ WXGA TFT Screen and is powered by TI OMAP 4460/4470 dual core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz/1.5GHz and a 1GB RAM. It takes pride in the fact that, at just 9.6mm thickness, it is one of the thinnest tablets at MWC this year. As you’d expect, it has two variants – WiFi only & WiFi+HSPA+, with both the variants available in 16GB & 32GB storage options.

Other key specifications include a 5MP rear camera with auto-focus, which can record full HD 1080p videos at 15fps. Usual connectivity options like 802.11 a/b/g/n @ 5GHz/2.4GHz & Bluetooth 3.0 are available. It also includes 2900mAh battery with a promise of 10 hours of un-interrupted usage.

Capricorn 120A is the first ever tablet by a relatively unknown Taiwanese company called Askey Computers who specializes in network communications. You might be wondering why a networking company has come out with an android tablet. Well, Askey is owned by another Taiwanese major, ASUS!

Check out some of the hands-on images of Capricorn 120A as sent by our reader. He did mention that the tablet felt really good to hold with its carbon finish back and performance was slick as well.

At 11.6 inches, this has to be the biggest Android tablet we have seen till now. When Samsung came out with the original Galaxy Tab, their argument was that iPad’s 9-inch screen was too big. Eventually we started seeing bigger tablets, usually around 10.1 inches. Capricorn 120A seems to be aiming to differentiate itself from the competition by having a notebook like screen size.

For some reason, Askey is trying to keep Capricorn 120A tablet really low profile. They do have some information on their website hidden deep inside their product portfolio. They are mum about the pricing and availability of the tablet, but we believe the tablet to be announced officially at Computex Taipei in June 2012.
