The hottest rumor that flies around the Internet after the iPad 3 frenzy (which cooled down into a new iPad discussion) comes from Apple’s biggest rival: Samsung. The South Korean tech giant is expected to throw in the face of the nameless iPad a new high-end tablet, Galaxy Tab 11.6.
Can Galaxy Tab 11.6 Beat The Resolutionary New iPad?
The guys at Pocket Lint are sure that the big announcement will be made on March 9th, at SXSW in Austin Texas. The news on this matter is frustratingly scarce.
“On Friday, March 9 at 4:00 p.m. in the Samsung Blogger Lounge (Austin Convention Center, room 19AB), Samsung will make a special announcement. Details will be released soon.”
That’s all the official information we have. However, there is a significant precedent for Samsung to leave Apple only a little time to enjoy from the tech world attention after a new product release. Let’s remember last Fall, when Samsung initially scheduled the Galaxy Nexus release two days after the unveil of iPhone 4S (the date was postponed to respect Steve Jobs’s memory).
Galaxy Tab 11.6 Launch to Increase Rivalry Between Apple and Samsung
If analysts who followed the rumors on the new tablet are to be right, the third generation iPad will have only a couple of days to show off its title of the tablet with the highest resolution on the market. The “resolutionary” new iPad could be surpassed by Galaxy Tab 11.6 which is expected to feature an amazing 2650 x 1600 pixel resolution. To make the matter more interesting, the challenge for Samsung was even tougher as the new tablet will have a larger display than the new iPad’s.
As the name hints, the new member of the Galaxy Tab family will obviously be considered as huge, having 11.6 inch, albeit we managed to find a 12 inch Android tablet at MWC, last week. In addition, the new Samsung tablet is expected to feature a 2GHz dual-core Exynos 5250 processor. Samsung Galaxy Tab 11.6 will undoubtedly come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. When it comes to the design, analysts believe the tablet will be slim and light to compensate the large screen and to get more portability.

The internals and particularly, the chipset, would allow Samsung teams to deliver on the market a slender tablet. We’ll just have to wait and see what Samsung has in store for us with its mysterious “special announcement.”
Update: Well, the special announcement has been made and it is NOT Galaxy Tab 11.6. Rather, it is about Angry Birds Space coming to Samsung Galaxy Note with 36 exclusive levels *SIGH*
