Earlier today, Airtel announced the launch of 4G LTE in India, with the eastern metropolitan city of Kolkata getting to enjoy the service first. Considering that Airtel had successfully bid for BWA license spectrum in Kolkata, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra (excluding Mumbai) circles, we can be sure to see 4G LTE in these states very soon.

Airtel 4G Tariffs & Data Plans

To start with, Airtel has launched two compatible devices and three data plans. The cheapest data plan comes at Rs. 999 (approx $20) and will be accompanied with 6GB of free data at speeds upto 40Mbps. Shockingly enough, once you cross 6GB, you will be strangled to death with 128kbps speed. Yes, it is 128kbps!

Other two 4G data plans are priced at Rs.1399 and Rs.1999, with 9GB and 18GB of free data respectively.
