Over the last couple of days, LG has announced two new Android smartphones, the mid-range LG Optimus L9 & top-end LG Optimus G. Both the phones will be showcased at the ongoing IFA trade fair in Berlin, Germany. Both Optimus L9 & Optimus G will come with 4.7 inch display and will be powered by Android 4.0 Ice-cream Sandwich and will boast the latest Optimus 3.0 UI.

LG Optimus G

The LG Optimus G is by far the most sweetly specced smartphone I’ve seen till now. The South Korean company has managed to raise some eyebrows with its latest flagship android phone. Going purely by the hardware, Optimus G can easily give Samsung Galaxy S3 a run for its money.

The new Optimus G features a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, Adreno 320 GPU, a 4.7-inch True HD 1280 x 768-pixel IPS display, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front camera, 2GB of RAM and a 2,100 mAh battery. And all these packed inside a sleek 8mm thin case.

Qualcomm claims that the Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU offers 40% performance improvement over existing quad-core processors and three-fold improvement in graphics performance. Though the battery is just 2100mAh, LG claims that their new technology offers 60 percent better performance.

But not everything is hunky dory here. The LG Optimus G comes with Android 4.0 ICS and the company is still working on 4.1 Jelly Bean port. Moreover, it is due to arrive in Korea in September & Japan in october or November. Pricing is not known yet.

LG Optimus L9

The LG Optimus L9 features a dual-core CPU, clocked at 1GHz and comes with 1GB of RAM. It also features 4.7-inch IPS display. The actual resolution is not yet known. Optimus L9 will have a 5MP primary camera on the rear and a VGA camera on the front. Internal flash memory will be 4GB, but users can expand the external memory storage by upto 32GB. It is powered by a high-density 2150 mAH SiO+ battery, measures 131.9 x 68.2 x 9.1mm and weighs 125g.

The looks of Lg Optimus L9 is inspired from the highly acclaimed LG Prada smartphone. On the software front, LG has bundled QTranslator, which instantly translates not only words, but also entire sentences and phrases with a simple scan from nearly 44 foreign languages to 64 user languages, using OCR technology.

Another new feature to be included in Optimus L9 is My Style Keypad. This adjusts the key formation of the virtual keypad depending on whether user is typing with one hand or two hands or which hands. We still need to wait for pricing and availability of LG Optimus L9.
