Who doesn’t love to be able to carry an unlocked iPhone all over the world with him? Usually, when you’re signing with a new carrier, you might not be aware of the fact that there might not be a “legal” way to unlock it later on. Why some carriers choose to lock the iPhone is quite obviousy – their interest is to keep you their client and also, you might have bought your iPhone for a subsidized priced, which means that you’re paying more for your data plan so that carriers could make a profit out of this.
But as consumers’ needs evolved and they started to travel more, sell more their “old” gadgets, carriers too realized that they need to go with the flow and offer services that will make customers appreciate you as a service providers. If your carriers allows you to unlock your iPhone, why would you want to quit using it? To be able to know that you can travel with your iPhone and you can sell it, too, is a comfort and a clever way to retain clients, much more “ethical” than primitively locking them.
Carriers that allow/offer iPhone unlocking
While some carriers simply allow your iPhone to be unlocked at a later stage, there are quite a few that actually offer unlocked iPhone, so for the less tech-savvy out there, this is just awesome. Also, you must understand that if your carrier is a CDMA carrier, then your unlocked will work only on other CDMA networks, so that you wouldn’t start swearing your carrier once you’ve reached your travel destination point.
