The iPhone killer, as many love to call the Samsung Galaxy samsung-galaxy-s3-jelly-beanS3, is finally getting the much-expected Android Jelly Bean update. The Android king will get the latest and greatest OS weapon just in time to fight Apple’s iOS 6, which has received quite a lot of critics for its failed Maps upgrade.

If you ask me, I still think one of the biggest issues Android has, is fragmentation and Google, along with its partners, should do something about it. It seems really weird that one of the top smartphones in the Android ecosystem (if not, the Android flagship device at the moment) has to wait such a long while before it can get the latest OS upgrade. The Jelly Bean upgrade was officially released at the beginning of July, this year and it’s been almost 3 months since that moment. And this is actually a happy scenarion, where 3 months should be considered to be a quick implementation.

Samsung Galaxy S3 gets the latest Android treat – jelly beans

This update has been spotted by a member on the resourceful Xda-developers forum. Apparently, the first Samsung Galaxy S3 owners that will be getting the Jelly Bean update are those from Poland. It’s a little earlier than what Samsung had previously announced – October. But it seems that Samsung is selecting a few regions across the world before beginning a global roll-out. Do let us know if you’re in a different country than Poland and you’re also getting the update.

The update is being rolled out via the KIES software. Do read about some real cool Jelly Bean features if you want to know if it’s worth the trouble. Users on the same Xda Developers forums claim that the gallery is already moving faster than before. Amongst the new features you will find Google Now, which has started quite a fight with Siri. The update has almost 300 MB in size, so be sure to use a Wi-Fi connection, if you want to save on your data plan. Below is a video on how the Jelly Bean update will look on your Samsung Galaxy S3.

Update: TheVerge apparently got an email from Samsung in which the company has given the list with all the devices that will be getting the Jelly Bean update. Here they are:
