Just a day before the Google I/O 2013 kicks off in San Fransisco, LG and Google are launching their flagship Nexus 4 smartphone in India finally. The 16GB version of Nexus 4 is already listed on the popular eCommerce site, Flipkart and will soon be available for pre-orders, as reported by NDTV Gadgets.

It’s important to note that neither Google nor LG has officially confirmed the Nexus 4 launch in India, but Flipkart insists that LG will be launching the phones this week, and will come with 1 year warranty from LG India. The smartphone is yet to make an appearance on the Google Play Store in India. If you remember, Google opened the devices section in Google India Play Store back in March this year, by launching the Nexus 7 tablet.

Google Nexus 4 was announced in October last year, and was launched two weeks later in November 2012 amidst lots of demand. At $299 for 8GB and $349 for 16GB for unlocked models, it generated humongous hype and appreciations from lot of people.

Nexus 4 is still considered to be amongst the best smartphones available in the market right now. It boasts a 4.7-inch HD display, and is powered by Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with 2GB of RAM and 2,100mAh battery. Being part of the Nexus family, the phone is popular for the fact that it gets to run the latest Android OS as soon as it is made available by Google, while flagship devices from other OEMs would need to wait for months if not more to get a taste of the latest OS version.

Another interesting thing to note here is the timing of this (unofficial) announcement. Google I/O kicks off in a few hours, and though Sundar Pichai insists on developer oriented event this time, there are some expectations of a new Nexus smartphone or at least an upgraded LTE version of Nexus 4 being announced later tonight. Certainly, this development adds fodder to that thought process.

At Rs.25,990 for 16GB model, LG has priced Nexus 4 really well. Going by this, the 8GB model should be priced around Rs.22,900. We shall update the post once we get the official confirmation.

Update: LG has sent a press release confirming the launch of 16GB Nexus 4 in India at MRP of Rs.25,999. Surprisingly, LG has decided not to bring the 8GB version at all.
