Xolo, the premium smartphone brand of Lava has announced its costliest Android smartphone, the Xolo Q1000S powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor by Mediatek (MTK 6589T) with 1GB RAM and a 13 megapixel rear camera. It’s a 5-inch IPS HD display (720 x 1280) and runs the Android 4.2 JellyBean OS.
At 158 grams, Xolo Q1000S might not be the lightest smartphone in the market, but it’s surely one of the thinnest, with a thickness of just 6.98mm. Xolo has been targeting the mid-range smartphone market with a range of devices, and Q1000S is its priciest offering so far with an MRP of Rs.18,999, and we feel this is one of their most impressive offerings. More on that later. Let’s take a look at the technical specifications first.
Xolo Q1000S Specs
XOLO Q1000S sports a 13 MP rear camera with BSI 2 sensor which promises much better low-light performance, which has been the talk of the town in the smartphone space. “BSI 2 sensor is an improved version of BSI sensor and it results in better image quality, enhanced color reproduction and improved overall camera performance.”
The front camera is an impressive 5 MP, a trend which we are seeing amongst the Indian smartphone makers these days. The 13 MP Camera is capable of recording Full HD 1080p videos and comes with image-stabilizing technology (OIS). Other usual features like HDR, face recognition, panaroma and burst mode are included.

On the outset, Xolo’s Q1000S looks extremely impressive with a wide range of features at an affordable price. Once can get features like Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, dual microphones and 13 MP camera with BSI 2 sensor for Rs.18,999 (~USD $300). Remember, the market operating price (MOP) will be a bit lower as well. Sadly, it looks like the microSD slot is missing, and 1GB RAM might be considered a compromise. We shall wait to get our hands on this device before passing a judgement, but the specs on paper for the price of approx $300 is definitely impressive, specially considering the current offerings in that price range.
There is no word on the availability yet. We shall update the post as and when we hear back from Xolo on that.
Update: Xolo has clarified that the Q1000S will be available from tomorrow (August 25th 2013) in online stores and soon after in retail stores as well.
