Google has partnered with Spice Mobility to launch the exclusive Android experience stores, branded as AndroidLand in India. We had reported about the collaboration back in June this year, and we finally see the stores open in Koramangala, Bangalore and The Great India Place Mall, Noida, with more AndroidLand stores coming up in other locations in coming months.

The AndroidLand will showcase a comprehensive range of Android devices, services and accessories across top international brands like Samsung, Sony, HTC, LG, Lenovo, and local brands like Micromax, XOLO, Karbonn and Spice. The stores are developed and maintained by Spice Mobility with guidance from Google.

The Bangalore store is spread across 2300 Sq ft while the Noida store is much smaller at 900 Sq ft. Dilip Modi, Co-Founder and Group CEO, Spice Global said in a statement released to the press:

We are confident customers will love the fun and engaging store concept that we developed in collaboration with Google. We have created a destination for customers to experience Android technology and learn about what they can do with mobile Internet. Spice has always believed in constant innovation in retail and with this launch we have kept our promise of bringing many ‘firsts’ to India”, in the field of technology retailing.

Back in 2011, Google Australia teamed up with Telstra to setup the first AndroidLand store in Melbourne, Australia. It was received pretty well by customers and enthusiasts. By setting up an Android experience store in India, Google is recognizing the huge potential it sees in the third largest mobile phone market in the world. At AndroidLand, Spice & Google hopes to promote Android ecosystem through a fun-filled experience. Don’t be surprised if you see Android robots walking around these stores.

In addition, visitors can meet and interact with AndroidLand store staff, who are referred to as Spice Android Gurus (take that Apple Geniuses), who have been specifically trained on the Android platform and will be able to help you select the device that’s right for you and then set-up, customize and provide apps recommendations.

There is an exclusive area showcasing the most popular apps and games from Google Play where customers can choose to search and download multiple applications from Google Play on the spot. Of course, there will be Free WiFi in store to browse the Internet from the live units. More information including the store addresses can be found here.
