Didn’t manage to order a Nexus 5? Simply can’t wait to taste the Android 4.4 KitKat? Well, the good folks at Droid-Life have gotten hold of the Nexus 5 factory image system dump and have teared down some of the important apps for the impatient souls out here. The list includes the new Google Search, Nexus 5 Launcher (called Google Home), Keyboard, Clock and eight other smaller upgrades.

In order to install the new launcher, you will need to install Google Play Services 4.0 (PreBuiltGmsCore.apk), Google search (Velvet.apk) and the Google Home .apk. As always, we warn you that these are unofficial downloads and you are side-loading them at your own risk. They are specifically designed for the Nexus 5, so there’s a chance that it might break something on a non-Nexus 5 device. I can confirm that they worked fine on my Nexus 4 running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Note: If you are facing Google Search force close issue, simply long press the home screen –> Settings –> Voice –> Language. Change default to another language and hit Home. Do a Google Search and repeat the process to change back the language to your preferred choice.
