QuickCast is a free screencasting app that is currently available only for Mac users and allows you to capture your screen. The app allows you to record for up to three minutes and you can even talk, so it’s a great tool if you want to make a guide or a tutorial. Your recordings of your Mac screen can be saved directly to your computer and or you can share them online through the QuickCast portal. You can also embed them into blog posts and webpages.
Even more, QuickCast comes with tools for adding short introduction and outro texts. This free Mac screencasting app also lets you include your face in a screen recording. You just need to turn on your webcam before start recording. You can also use QuickCast to create animated GIFs if your video is under ten seconds and under 300px height/width. Of course, there are tons of other screencasting apps for Mac and Windows, but this one is very simple to use and set up.
It is very simple to download and install Quickast, and very easy to find it in your toolbar and hit record. The Quickcast icon will also give you an idea of how long you have left until your three minutes of screencasting have come to an end. At the moment QuickCast is Mac only (OS X 10.7+) but a Windows version is also on the way.
